The hotel was booked as part of a larger tour. As a solo traveler, hotel was nice (elegant entrance-way) and it was good to see other international tourists also in the same hotel. Amenities were acceptable (free wifi, bottled water, soap, flat-screen TV). I also requested to switch a room from smoking to non-smoking and the hotel was able to... More

For a International hotel in a capitol city their English skills were hopeless. we stayed for two nights with a tour group. Beds were rock hard which we found is typical for Chinese hotels, Food was expensive and mediocre, Bar prices extremely expensive $35 for a scotch and coke. All being said its in a central location, just eat and... More

This hotel is very nice. It has a fabulous breakfast. The staff is very nice. The rooms are average size but nicely decorated. The location is ok. They are very helpful arranging taxis. The history of this hotel is very interesting.

Our tour promised comfortable hotels and I'd say it was better than that. Clean and welcoming. Good wifi connection. Water in room not complimentary buy across street in supermarket. Buses run close by, turn right out of the hotel. Difficult to get a taxi here and most places- taxi drivers don't speak or read English and you need a map... More

Really speed they even have a complimentary toothbrush and toothpaste I in the bath room. No problem with WiFi worked great. Wish it was closer to Does but it's just a 1/2 hour from Tiamenien Square. Wasnt a bad hotel, we stayed here for 3 nights on a recent twelve day guided tour through China, we didn't choose the hotel it was part of our tour - I thought the accomodation was good, staff were attentive, friendly and accomodating when we required them and at check in and out! Stayed for 4 nights with my colleagues during an official trip to the capital city. The location is quite good in a peaceful environment. A three star deluxe hotel with foreign exchange conversion/ATM, direct dial isd facilities with a convenient store nearby really proved helpful to us in a great way. Room service was excellent. Rooms were very clean and... More

We stayed at the Dong Fang for 4 nights in early September as the starting point for our Sundowners Overland tour. Many of the guests we met were also part of tour groups starting or finishing in Beijing. The hotel is located in a quiet residential street in between 3 major hospitals and within an easy half hour walk to... More

My husband and I stayed here for four nights in December. While we have no major complaints, I think you can do better in Beijing. We booked this hotel through a tour company and were picked up each day for a tour. To do sightseeing on your own, stay elsewhere. Pros: -Decent breakfast with Western options -Hotel staff speaks basic... More

This hotel has an important role in the history of China, but now it is just an old 3 star hotel, that is populated mostly with group travelers, like we were. It is situated in an old neighborhood .The hotel is decent but about the cleening I have some different observations than those described by others. You have to ask... More
