Asked for smoke free room after having been placed in another room!! Room was clean , shower was good, TV but wifi could only be used in foyer. Close to an awesome bakery around the corner and many restaurants as well as some upmarket shopping malls.

Good location hotel with clean twin room on 7th floor. Smell of smoke in corridor though. Did not eat any food in hotel but hotel bakery next door was good. Reception staff were friendly but very poor wifi. Complimentary water in rooms and good TV channels in English. Hot water and good power shower in bathroom.

Stayed here as part of a G Adventures tour so can't comment on the value for money component. On the whole it was a decent, clean hotel. While it was a smoking hotel, we didn't have too much of a problem (compared to other hotels we'd been to in China). Bed were comfy, the heater was adjustable in the room... More

Background: Named after the Beijing district of the same name, the Chong Wen Men Hotel was our tour group's jump-off point of a 21-day tour of China and Hong Kong. Built back in 1978 as a business hotel, it had a recent renovation in 2007. PROS: Location... location... location is its best asset. Centrally located in Beijing, you couldn't ask... More

We stayed at the Chong Wen Men Hotel as part of a G Adventure tour in August 2013. The room was very clean, had a hair dryer, fridge and a safe. The beds were the most comfortable we had stayed in, large with a nice duvet. Free Wi-Fi was available in the lobby. It was a good location very close... More

A large hotel and ok for a short stay. The bedroom was clean and comfortable and not too much mildew in the bathroom - a problem (small) with most Chinese hotels I have stayed in. The reception desk was staffed by non-English speakers who appear to have been instructed not to smile at customers, though they appeared competent at what... More

Our stay here was alright, it's a nice hotel in a good central location in Beijing. The only problem we had was that the floor leaked outside of the bathroom when you took a shower in our hotel room. But when we asked to change rooms, the hotel staff were immediately accommodating and gave us a new room straight away... More

The hotel has a very good location and a nice lobby. Rooms are old and small. But that's what I expected. What I didn't expect was the mildew everywhere in the bathroom. This was just disgusting! Therefore, I wouldn't choose this hotel anymore.

The location is close to the Chongwenmen subway stop and even within walking distance of Tiananmen Square. The rooms were clean with hairdryer and TV with several English language stations. Choice of breakfast included Chinese and western dishes. 15 free minutes of internet per room were allowed in the business centre each day, but this was not always strictly enforced... More

This is a clean well serviced hotel. However it is simple and the wifi is terrible. Its not available in your room and you barely get access in the lobby. Only one person can ever be found that speaks english so its helpful to be organised if you are staying there. Its not so expensive, about $90 Au a night.... More
