Stayed in the King's Joy for 3 days in July 2014 while sightseeing in Beijing. Great location for Tiananmen, Forbidden City, and Jiangshan. Convenient to Qianmen subway station as well. Try to avoid staying on the 6th floor as it does not have elevator access.

Location is great not far from metro station and shopping area and places to eat. Good value for money. Overall quite good place to stay on a tight budget. We booked two rooms. One room was absolutely fine. The other had broken shower room doors and as a result of that bathroom was always wet. The same room was very... More

I already stayed in King's Joy Hotel twice. Aside from being a standard hotel, it also provides a 6-bed dorm style, in which I stayed. The bedroom is comprised of two rooms, when you enter the room you will see two single beds, and when you enter the second room, there are four remaining beds in the form of two... More

We stayed here as part of our budget tour. The rooms are clean and quite spacious. The hotel lacks a lounge area to use the wifi! You have to sit in the lobby... Staff could be friendlier... Overall great for location and convenience but very basic.

If you like to stay in an absolute dump in a good location then this is the hotel for you. The bed was hard and uncomfortable. Wifi was virtually non-existant - you had to sit in the lobby between 10 am to 1p.m to get connected - a time when everyone was out. Breakfast was awful. Staff were rude and... More

We stayed here with my friend and her dad and had a great time. The room was fine, shower was alright. The location is great though, right down the street from Tiananmen square and the Forbidden City. There are a ton of places to eat nearby, if you want Chinese food or a taste of home (ie. McDonalds). I stayed... More

This is not an American hotel, so don't expect a western level of service or bedding. We found King's Joy to be perfectly acceptable. We stayed here both at the beginning and the end of our trip. Both rooms were laid out the same and looked out at the hutong rooftops. When compared to other hotels we stayed in (some better,... More

I stayed at this hotel in April as part of a group tour. There was no hot water for showers, housekeeping was poor, chipped cups in room. Check in was slow and the restaurant did not have two of the lunch choices I selected. I was locked out of my room on no less than 5 ocassions, which was very... More

For $35 a night I was a bit concerned about the hotel quality as I was burned in the past in other countries. To my pleasant surprise, the hotel was pretty much what I expected. Rather basic, but clean and in location you can't beat. Frankly, after walking around I couldn't find anything better. My only disappointment is the lack... More

We had a deluxe room booked by the travel agency. The room was large with Chinese décor. There was one English speaking TV program - the fridge was the best little fridge we had come across in Asia. Service was minimal, ie. no bell boys for luggage, but after all, this is more of a hostel catering for the younger... More
