In our 18 months backpacking through Asia and the Middle East, this was probably the "funkiest" place we stayed. It was a bit out of our price range but we loved the look of it so much we stayed anyway. The rooms are well thought out and have everything you could need (free broadband internet, coffee maker, flat screen TV,... more

When we arrived, our room looked as if someone had been staying there already i.e. unmade beds, things on the counter, etc. Staff speaks little English so it's hard to get a point across or ask questions. No elevator so lifting your bags up a staircase is no fun. Extremely overpriced but we stayed during the Olympics and the prices... more

I agree with the findings of previous reviewer, Mrgnk... it's surprising how much the place has deteriorated since the hotel photos were taken. more

I find this as a "different" hotel. Different because of how the hotel interior (lobby, corridors, stairs, etc.) and the rooms are designed and furnished. I booked a room on the second floor. Clean sheets, good lighting - lots of different lamps, LCD TV, mini fridge, safe, clothes cabinet, hot/cold showers and a queen size bed. I noticed broken tiles... more

My mother and I stayed at this hotel last summer. For the price, it was great. The room was clean, but the carpets were worn and could have been replaced. We had a room with a window and two twin beds. Expect cozy sized rooms. The beds were comfy for Chinese beds and there was a tv and mini-fridge in... more

Very special design of the lobby and reception desk. Room is ok if considering the prise. Wonderful coffee at the cafe of the hotel, surprisingly, "fair trade" coffee is served. The Europian style breakfast is quite good, too. more

Booked the Tangyue Hotel from the net, largely because the location seemed great. Well, the location is great, just a few minutes walk from the Forbidden City. But that is almost the only thing great about it. The rooms are tiny and have no ventilation or natural light, the carpet looks like even cleaning will no longer help, and they... more
