It says it is 4 star hotel but there are actually two buildings and one of them is 3 star. I think it is over priced for 3 star apartment style. I paid 45 USD per night and the accommodation is not very good. A bit smell and bathroom and shower are together and quite sketchy. Closet and doors are... More

Initially we were booked for the Yanshan serviced apartments next door, but after visiting the flat we didn't like it especially tyne bathroom which was too tint and cramped so we shifted to an executive suite in the main hotel building for our three week stay. Having a good experience , we stayed again on a subsequent trip for another... More

When you get a hotel room in Asia, you have to accept certain differences in cultural expectation. What is normal in some countries is can not be expected in others. Having said this, the hotel room at the Yanshan Hotel in Beijing isn't bad for a $45 room, but it will definitely not delight the typical Western guest...especially, if they... More

I had a comfortable stay at the Yanshan Hotel. It was well located for my needs (close to the metro). The rooms were clean, comfortable and quiet, although slightly outdated and not really luxurious. There was a wide variety for breakfast. Not all staff speak English very well.

If you need to be close to the Renmin University, this hotel is a decent choice. The PROs: Staff was friendly, spoke English (contrary to some other comments on TripAdvisor) and made an effort to get a room ready despite my very early arrival. A very short walk to the metro station; taxis available in front of the hotel and... More

QUALITY: Don't believe for a moment it's a 4 star. It's 2 to 3 star maximum by Western standards. There's a huge difference between the grotty side building (rooms around £30 and it shows) and the main building (executive rooms around £60). The reception is tacky, dated and stinks of cigarettes. ROOMS: the executive rooms are clean and comfortable enough.... More

My partner and I were here in July 2013. I was disappointed with the state of the rooms. Run down, very old fashion and they were not clean, a lot of dust. I spilt a small amount deep heat on a couple of sheets which left a slightly red stain. This stain can be washed out in the washing machine... More

I got invited to this hotel and luckily I didn't have to pay for it. It's located far away from the tourist attractions (approx. 45 minutes by subway). They put me in the "appartments", which are cheaper but look dirty (the bathroom doesn't have a tub, and it flooded). If you're picky don't go there. The staff didn't speak English... More

The hotel itself is passible: rooms clean if a bit run-down, good location with a variety of restaurants and street food in the neighborhood, metro close by. The buffet breakfast is mediocre but edible, otherwise I did not eat at the hotel. We did have a very unpleasant surprise at check-out, when we were charged the full rack rate (or... More

My boyfriend and I stayed here for 10 nights this past August along with many other of his family members. The only major complaint I had was how hot it was at night. I guess the air conditioning gets turned off from 2am to 6am and it was extremely hot (but we were there in Aug!). Also, they had rolling... More
