Not brilliant either. Typical government owned hotel. Large lobby with bar. Good service and pleasant room, but much of the hotel is tired and needs a makeover. Handy shop across the road and subway close. Very near zoo but that's not the best place to visit in Beijing.

I stayed in this hotel for two weeks on a business trip in March / April 2014. I give this hotel 3 (really only 2.5). The hotel is acceptable but the lack of staff that speak English and the lack of English channels, 2 News and HBO make it a non-starter for those that don't speak Chinese. There is only... More

This hotel has no place for eating/shopping nearby. And the property itself is run-down and depilated. The staff has no english proficiency and efficiency is not a word they have in their dictionaries. From the door lock to the light switches to the shower drain nothing was working properly. Wouldn't recommend anyone to book this place, especially if you are... More

I stayed in this hotel as part of a large group from the UK. Check in was assisted by our tour group leader. My room was on floor 13 but was tired with worn carpets and old bathroom fittings. There were two wheatgerm pillows and two foam pillows on the bed which was firm and comfortable. The tv had only... More

Stayed here as a part of an organised tour and found it very comfortable and contrary to some of the reviews I found the hotel staff really pleasant and helpful. The hotel is going through a long refurbishment with some floors having undergone a complete update. I stayed here twice on the trip and I understand some of the conflicting... More

Visited as part of an organised party and was quite concerned before we left due to some of the reviews posted. However, I found the hotel quite nice. It was undergoing a refurb and external repaint, but I was not lucky enough to get a refurbed room. However, the room was fine, if a little tired. The public areas were... More

We stayed here at the end of our holiday and it was a bit of a let down. When you walk through the door it is very impressive but when you reach your room you are back down to earth. The rooms were not very clean showers flooded the floor and the room was sparsely furnished with little storage. The... More

Stayed here as part of an organised tour of China so I didn't book this hotel myself. I was happy with it though. The room was big and clean and had everything you would want. The staff were very friendly. Lobby was lovely. Breakfast was great, lots to choose from. Overall, I liked it.

Well, this is a typical Chinese "Government Owned" hotel. I had less trouble compared with other reviewers, but I also have one advantage, I speak Mandarin! I had two stays recently and the feelings are greatly different. Although it is labeled five-star, it is not really set for embracing international travelers. My first stay was in last December when I... More
