If only there was an option to give zero stars. The bathroom walls were coated with mold, the beds were hard as rock and smelled of cigarettes like the rest of the hotel and the shower curtains probably hadn't been washed or replaced since the founding of the hotel in the 80's. We asked to be switched to a nonsmoking... More

The Chang An is a popular tourist hotel in central Beijing--easy access to Temple of Heaven, The Forbidden City, and Antique Stores. On the weekend, one block away there is a street market with some interesting Chinese artifacts. The hotel is a 2 to 3 star but it is in a good location.

The Chang An Grand Hotel in Beijng is a nice clean hotel. However the beds were very uncomfortable, more like minimal padding on a hard slab I heard a few guests complaining of the beds. The room we had was nice but this is a very smoky hotel. Even the so-called non-smoking rooms on the 9th floor were very smoky... More

Stayed in this hotel for four nights last Christmas. Not a terrible experience. Considering the price and the close proximity to the center of Beijing, I think it's okay. The room is pretty old, like others said. And the housekeeping is not doing a very good job. I spotted quite a lot of hair (which is not mine for sure)... More

This hotel was our first nights stay on a summer vacation and was very disappointed. Nothing good about it except the rooms were a decent size for being in the city. The location is terrible..there is nothing to eat around the area…its on a very busy street that was so noisy…the lobby looked nice but the rooms are dirty and... More

Was told the room was non smoking but the smell was strong, even in the hallway. Despite a sign in Mandarin that smoking isn't allowed you can smell it once you get to the rooms. The lobby was the only area that didn't smell like smoke. The smell is so thick that anyone with breathing problems might not be able... More

My wife and I stayed for one week in early November 2014, as part of a tour group. It is a great base for exploring Beijing. The hotel is fine and the rooms comfortable. The non-smoking floor was not, but after the first day not so bad. The buffet breakfast was a little crowded each morning, but there was a... More

Not 5 star and definitely not international! No English spoken, no charging drinks to room account, filthy carpets, stench of cigarette smoke everywhere. Had 3 attempts to get a reasonable room, with no apologies from front desk staff, only given another key. No concierge to help with luggage. Restaurant served one of our group of four with their main course,... More

Stayed 7 nights and it ticked the boxes for us with - Reasonably quiet air conditioner, operable window(although the buses start moving at 5.30am- so keep it closed if you want a sleep in), large room, fresh linen, free water, the bed (was large and no harder than any other Asian bed), buffet breakfast (was varied for all tastes) , overall... Stayed as part of tour group. Room spacious if a little tired, nice duvet, good shower, tea making facilities but fridge locked, I believe you could get it unlocked by staff. Bed was unbelievably hard (thought at first we only had the base!), but beside that we slept well as we were very tired after busy days (you can request... More
