we stayed here as part of a tour,so no choice. On arrival the lobby was very impressive. The rooms were a disappointment though. They were very 'tired' and could do with a re vamp. Our room was ok ,but others in our group complained of cigarette smoke smell in room, cupboard doors hanging off and one had a hole in the wall, which was repaired!.Electrical... Stayed for 6 days. Location wise it's maybe 20min away by taxi to Forbidden Palace area, but access to the whole city via subway is quite easy with a station located around 10min walk away (Panjiayuan station, Line 10). Otherwise there is nothing much in the immediate area. Antique city isn't all that interesting, but there is a lively flea... More

Buffet breakfast was above satisfactory. Wi-Fi only available at lobby area. A walking distance to supermarket / restaurant. The surrounding of the hotel is quiet and safe. We stored our luggage at the hotel for 1 night (went to ChengDe), comeback to the hotel and overnight there for the next few days. Didn't get to use the other services of... More

This was a reasonable four-star Chinese hotel and not the level of service you might expect at a western hotel. I pre-booked an airport pickup through the hotel that never turned up (getting a taxi form the airport was fine (make sure you have the name and address of your hotel with you in Chinese characters) and much cheaper). At... More

Bad: Beds are very hard Bathroom was dirty (we found hair on the wall) when we entered. Room has old CRT TV. Good: There's AC in the room with a variety of settings. Room has... More

I stayed at this hotel in Beijing for 3 night in October 2013. I found it a quite nice and clean, and very "Las Vegas" in feeling. Bright, glitzy, modern rooms, etc. It appeared to have a mix of tourist groups and business people, but it was too far outside the city center. A trip into Beijing proper took 40... More

Having read so many poor reviews of this hotel we were prepared to be disappointed. However, nothing was too much trouble for the staff at breakfast, the lobby or the room staff. Very hard bed immediately had a high density foam overlay supplied, ice arrived promptly, room was well cleaned, linen fine, towels better than many. We had no choice... More

The Chang An Grand Hotel is a new hotel located in the section of the city where you can buy antiques. It is a new hotel with a unique lobby and a very helpful staff most of whom are limited in English. The rooms are large and extremely overheated, at least the windows open. The breakfast buffet is very limited... More
