General: The hotel is very clean and affordable. It is located in the heart of the tourist area of Beijing and about a 15 minute walk to Tiennamen square. All the other sites are accessible by taxi or tour bus. The hotel can arrange tours for you. Service is very friendly although they do not speak fluent English so it... more

The rooms were quite small and dingy (the beds were rock hard), in contrast with the beautiful lobby. Very little English was spoken by the staff, with the exception of a helpful bellboy. Beware of extra hidden charges--20 yuan for a towel we used for a coffee spill--and coffee that looks like it's free but costs 30 yuan per cup.... more

I stayed 6 nights at The North Garden Hotel in Wangfujing Street in central Beijing. The hotel looks nice from the outside and is in a good area, great for shopping and conveniently located for the underground station. The noise from neighbouring rooms can be a problem, slamming doors being a constant annoyance. My stay was comfortable and I had... more

Booked by China Travel Service. Excellent location. Just off the major pedestrian mall. Major upscale shopping mall around the corner with a supermarket and food court open to 10 in the basement. Great for stocking the room. Recommended restaurants nearby including the tourist driven "night market" which is over by 10 some nights. Short walk by Beijing standards to Tiananmen.... more

Stayed in the North Garden Hotel for 3 nights (Thursday through Sunday) - booked on Expedia for about A$110 a night. The hotel is located close to Wangfujing Street (main shopping area and also the famous snack street), and about a 15 minute walk from Tiananmen Square and the Forbidden City. Its a Chinese owned hotel, but don't let this... more

Took my family (kids ages 13 and 9) to Beijing and Xi'an from April 18 to 28th. We stayed here from 18-22 and 27-28. The hotel had a great non-smoking floor, we stayed in four rooms (2 in each in two different visits). Location is superb and close to the walking street and food vendors. THe people at the door,... more

The hotel is conveniently located just around the corner from some food market stalls and major shops. Beware as some of the locals will try and charge you more as I discovered even in a shop for a mobile phone sim card. Tienanmen Square is located up the road about 10-15min walk or 5min by cab. Cabs are very cheap... more

Great location, nice lobby, smelly rooms, misleading pictures, poor english, slow check in/out….I requested a non-smoking room but the room reeked from the smell of cigarettes. The hotel seemed renovated but still looked dirty and old. Communication was definitely an issue since NO ONE spoke good English except the bellboy. The recipients frown in your face and they are only... more

Stayed at the North Garden Hotel in Beijing for three nights and was very happy about it. The best thing is the location, right next to Wangfujing Road (shopping and some restaurants), not far from Tiananmen Sq and the Forbidden City and very close to a metro station to take you to other parts of the huge city. The room... more
