Very dated and badly in need of an upgrade. Rooms are big but very basic. Bathroom is probably 2 star. Stayed there for 3 nights as the my conference was held in the building adjacent to the hotel. Breakfast buffet is nothing to shout about but it seems pretty popular among the people. Cheap room but I am definitely not... More

Stayed for 7 on business. Stayed on the 17th floor and the rooms were great. Big bathrooms with bath, separate shower - quite large. Great lovely big towels which I like. Hairdryer in room. Had to ask for an iron and ironing board as they are not standard in the room. Iron fine but ironing board was not really padded... More

Loved this hotel mostly for their most fabulous breakfast buffet (yummy!), for the shopping convenience, for the large, beautiful, clean rooms, for the great view from rooftop restaurant -- loved, loved it! One of the nicest hotels I've stayed at, not quite Mandarin Oriental but close. Only downside was the wait staff in restaurants -- not sure what the problem... More

Stayed three nights. We had a room on upper floor. Very clean and was also checked by efficient supervisor everyday. All foyer staff were very helpful to requests, advice and questions. Breakfast was very good, though not sure whether waitress staff wanted to be there, didn't look it. Meals were expensive in the hotel, so we dined elsewhere, not a... More

The reception and public areas are very grand, but our two standard guest rooms were very tired and the bathrooms quite shabby. The rooms are a good size and the higher rooms have fantastic city views. Mini bar, safe, hairdryer, tea/coffee, free bottled water replenished daily, 6ft bed (choice of pillows), large TV (CCN & BBC News), free toiletries, bathroom... More

Breakfast was amazing, but eating in hard on a budget. The drinks in the restaurants are rather expensive. There is a supermarket in walking distance which was quite a help. The revolving restaurant at the top was expensive but good.

A huge hotel with ideas of grandeur and impressive public areas, but plenty of areas of improvement needed. Negatives - Our bathroom was very tired, flaking bath, mouldy tiles. - Rooms large but with heavy dark furniture, too little light. - Aircon off in October (policy), but the room was way too hot, meant we had to sleep with the... I was really disappointed in this hotel. For a 5 star rating (maybe China is different!) it was extremely dour and as no one spoke English even the most simple request was met with complete indifference. As the location was not good and it was difficult to find a decent local restaurant, we perforce ate in the hotel at a... More

I had read all of the trip advisor postings and I am a fussy traveler. I was put at this hotel on a business trip. I asked for a higher floor because I had heard the rooms were renovated. The room was completed remodelled, and very lovely! Everything seemed brand new. So......ask for a higher floor and make sure you... More

Busy and old with a huge foyer typical of international hotels. Lots of events seem to be taking place there. Front desk staff are supposed to be competent in English but some are not really so. They exude no warmth, no smiles and offer no greetings, Did a good job in averting their eyes from you lest you need any... More
