Sometimes it's nice to indulge. Lovely room, breakfast buffet, lounge with view of Forbidden City, so close you could jump. As in other hotels in China, though- difficulty keeping carpets clean - they are vacuumed, but with dirt mark buildup.

Looks can be deceiving. I stayed here about 5 years ago and thought everything was very nice. Clean and spacious room with a view . This time, the room is small and a little musty. Air does not work Ran a bath and it took a good hour to fill the tub as the water pressure was low. The bathroom... More

The Grand Hotel Beijing is in a brilliant location. Right next to both Tiananmen Square and Wangfujing street, where you can find shops, restaurants and markets. Also very close to numerous subway stations, which is surprisingly easy to use even for those who speak limited mandarin. We stayed in a Forbidden City view room, which was sensational, the bathroom generous... More

The Grand Hotel Beijing is in an absolute perfect location and is a great value. The staff is incredibly nice and the rooms and bathroom are huge. This is a traditional hotel that is quite unique but it is in some need of maintenance. We loved this hotel but if you are looking for something modern and sleek, this is... More

We were given a free upgrade to a room with a view of the Forbidden City. The furnishings are of excellent quality and there are superb artworks in the public areas. Sadly the room was not very clean. The carpet needed to be shampooed and obviously hadn't even been vaccumed properly for rather a long time. The windows were dirty.... More

This hotel is OK - good location, friendly staff but for example breakfast runs you 30 USD per person which is outrageous, coffee in the lobby will run you 9 USD... the list goes on and on. Do yourself a favor read up on Tea house scams before traveling to this area, I was really surprised the hotel staff didn't... More

Best location for central Beijing - close to Forbidden City, Tiananmen, Hutongs. Good in-room amenities; and the City facing rooms are nice. However food in the restaurants is very expensive, even by Beijing standards.

On my first trip the Beijing, I was traveling with a rather large group. The hotel was beautiful upon driving up to it, and it is in a fantastic location. Just a few minutes walk to the Forbidden City and Tienanmen Square. Also, if you have a chance to go see the Beijing Symphony, I highly recommend it!! It is... More

Stayed there in Oct. The hotel is right in the middle of city center, about 5 mins walk to the Tian-an-meng Square and the national museum, or about 10-15 mins walk to the Wang-fu-jing shopping area. The room is facing the forbidden city, but given the foggy weather when we were there, nothing really showed up. The decoration is traditional... More

When I stayed here 4 years ago, I was very impressed w/ the room quality. This time, both my parents' room and mine were in disrepair and dirty. It's still a good hotel boasting friendly service, big rooms and a central location, but it's presently not up to western 5-star standards.
