I stayed for one night with my husband and three year old. We payed extra for a superior double room but we must have gotten the least superior they had in that category and frankly i was disappointed. The room was very small, and not nicely decorated as many of the pictures of the rooms. It was also a bit... More

Stayed for 4 nights at end of March. Had an upstairs room which was very spacious and a great bathroom with separate large shower cubicle. Nice buffet breakfast but no other meals available. Staff extremely pleasant and good English spoken. The shadow art is excellent, don't miss it! The hotel is in the hutong, the very old area and set... More

What an unusual place! On the street it looks very "ordinary". How can there be a classy place in this area! Inside is a world of difference. Comfortable and quite adequate. It is quite small compared to the "big" establishments so don't expect a big spread for breakfast. The choice is basic but more than adequate. Be warned, this is... More

We were more than happy with this hotel, we stayed for 4 nights and couldn't have been made to feel more comfortable. The shadow puppet show was an added bonus, with really good explanations and a chance to try it out.. 3 members of staff to commend: Sarah, the calligrapher, who made us a beautiful scroll, and Dave and Michael,... Great way to have the balance of staying in a local hutong, but have a boutique hotel feel. Great varied breakfast in the mornings. But beware, staying right beside the lobby can get loud in the morning,

If you want to avoid major chain hotels, this boutique hotel is for you. Set in the oldest area of Beijing, you can experience the daily life of the Hutong residents as they prepare food, play shuttlecock, chat to friends on the street, and if you happen to get lost in the myriad of narrow laneways, your hotel card will... Located in old Beijing, this cosy boutique hotel is perfect for those looking to experience local culture and see how the locals live. Hidden in the 'Hutong' lanes, it may be difficult to find and we had taxi drivers who didn't want to bother looking for the hotel thus making us walk back from the main streets. Some of the... More

I really loved this beautiful hotel in the center of historic Beijing. Everything you like to see in the center is close at hand. The hotel is very nicely furnished and has a shadow art stage in the atrium. You can watch plays twice a week. I ran into one by chance. What a pleasure! The breakfast is European style... More

My wife and I had the great pleasure of staying at the Shadow Art Performance Hotel in the summer of 2014. They offered delicious breakfast, thoughtfully designed spaces and a very courteous staff—all at a fair price. It's located rather close to a train station and is located in a nice community. I would stay here again in a heartbeat.
