We enjoyed two days in that hostel. Very nice atmosphere and great place, we stayed in the private room, which was beautiful, but really to expensive! It was including veggie food (nice but you shouldn't be too hungry though (small portions only). Also breakfast is nice but not much to eat if you're really hungry bad luck. The wall is... More

Stayed here for only one magical night but wow. Such a gorgeous and relaxing place to visit. I can absolutely guarantee if I am ever in Beijing again I will be coming back here. People speak of sometimes finding it hard to get up to Gubeikou etc and I am no help cause we took their private driver - the... More

Loved the place. Comfortable, super clean, tasteful and very welcoming. The wall at Gubeiko is not renovated, which means that at the moment you can get there wonderful hikes around the wall without hardly meeting any other person. Well, I met just a huge rabbit on my way. Great Wall Box House may seem a bit pricey, if you are... More

Stayed Great Wall Box with friends. Like the peaceful surrounding and fresh air. The hostel is right located in Gubeikou Village which next to Gubeikou Great Wall. Really enjoy the view and peaceful life style there. Will recommend to friends who want to take a break from the busy city life.

My husband and I spent 2 nights in mid June at the deluxe double room. I am so glad we did this! We decided to take the 980 bus to Miyun at Dongzhimen bus station (easy to get to by subway in Beijing). The bus was tight, there’s no special storage for luggage. It’s a regular city bus. I had... This was my 5th trip to the Great Wall, this time taking my parents who came to visit. They absolutely loved it as a first time to the wall, and for me it was the best of all the parts I'd visited. Not only do you have quiet and untouched parts of the wall to explore with stunning views, but... More

It's not as hard to get there as people say. Really, take the 980 bus, get off at the last stop, tell one of the many taxi drivers where you're going, tell him you'll ONLY pay him 120yuan and you're on your way! We had the deluxe double room, complete with fireplace, surround sound, heated loo seat and seriously, the... More

If you're looking for City Lights or the Urban Jungle stay elsewhere. Tranquil setting on the footsteps of the less developed parts of the Great Wall. A perfect place to end our trip through China. We stayed in a double room. Accomodation is simple yet spotless. Shared shower facilities were very clean. We enjoyed the peace and proximity to the... More

My 5 kids and I stayed for 4 nights at the Great Wall Box House and we could have stayed another week! The hiking on the wall was amazing...rarely did we see any other hikers! Sunrise and sunset were both EPIC and it is a quick jaunt up to the wall to see the view. The food is excellent (vegetarian... More

I stayed here with my 2 teenage children as a way of seeing the Great Wall without all the tourist malarkey! Its a long way out of Beijing, we hired a driver and it still took over 2 hours (gotta be honest the instructions to get there by bus made me lose the will to live before I'd stepped outside!)... Official Description (provided by the hotel)
This is Joe (Qiao), who is a big fan of the Great Wall. I moved to Gubeikou Great Wall after traveling to lots of different types of the Great Wall: 1, Gubeikou Great Wall is the wild wall connected with Jinshanling Great Wall and Simatai Great Wall. 2, Our house is located in the countryside, not in DOWNTOWN Beijing. 3, If you want to experience REAL and WILD Great Wall, Gubeikou is the one what you must do. Situated in Gu Bei Kou, just 50-metres away from the Great Wall, this friendly house features modern architecture, as well as free Wi-Fi and free parking. Featuring stone walls and wooden furnishings, heated rooms come with Great Wall views. There are shared bathroom and heated toilet facilities in the courtyard. There are private rooms with an iPod docking station, electric kettle and en suite bathrooms available. The Great Wall Box House (Beijing) offers outdoor seating in the courtyard, a kitchen and a common dining area. Local Chinese dishes are cooked daily by the property. It is 3 km to Gu Bei Kou Railway Station and 100 km to Beijing International Airport from The Great Wall Box House. ... more   less
