Pros: 1. Arrived very early in the morning and was allowed to check in straight away and go for a decent sleep (until a couple started having sex...this isn't the hostel's fault, it's just that the walls are very thin) 2. Each dorm bed has it's own curtain, lamp and power socket 3. Right next to the metro so super... More

Happy Dragon Counrtyard Hostel is beautiful and well located in lovely Dongsi area, but unfortunately the rooms are very noisy. We stayed in private twin room for a week and every night we needed to sleep with ear plugs, otherwise it would've been impossible to sleep. Rooms were not cleaned properly either, which was a pity, since the rooms tried... More

+ We have been in this hostel 4 days with a friend. Lived in a dormitory room for 4 people, in hostel came only to sleep. The hostel staff is great, always ready to help, always smiling. Want to underline the bed - уou can push the shutter and get a small private room, there your own personal lamp and... More

Very social and helpful... Though thin walls and can hear everything, construction, people in the bar and loads of sex (Actually that was kinda cool). Overall it was a good place for people wanting to meet people

Only stayed one night as my preferred hostel (Lucky Dragon, two mins away from here) was fully booked. This place is great though, a little hidden world in the HuTong! Cheap as chips, lovely restaurant/bar, free wifi, friendly staff accommodating at all hours (I arrived at 03:00!) and comfortable enough beds. Only issue was poor-ish wifi signal and slightly weird... More

Great hostel that has separate Ensuite Rooms, lots of young people passing by. We stayed for 6 nights and the staff were friendly and helpful. The hostels trip to the Great Wall was the best, not too busy and great food. A bit hidden away down a Hutong/Alley so we would recommend getting a pick up by the hostel if... More

At only £5 a night, this was great value for money. Very scenic location in a clean hutong, not far from a metro station and there are many local shops nearby. The rooms aren't much to write home about, but the beds are comfortable and everything is regularly cleaned. (I only spent time in my room whilst sleeping, because there... More

the location of HDC is very good, near the metro in the central area. the room was typical chinese, what I wanted, and they clean it everyday, maybe it's not too soundproof. the staff is very friendly and helpful and speak good english, the trip they organize to the great wall was good (no shopping). the only problem I had... We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at the Happy Dragon. We had a private double room that was spotless and dotted with characterful features. The room was cleaned daily. The hostel had a wonderful bar/restaurant in the central courtyard with extremely friendly staff, great food, wonderful coffee and themed evenings such as dumpling making, BBQs, and video night that would be... great place in a very traditional location in the hutongs (although can be quite hard to find at first). The staff were very friendly and the cafe was great. The room itself is quite big but it can get quite cold.
