Many people have given rave reviews about this location and I agree with them so there is no point to repeat. However, I would like to point out some of the glaring shortcomings of this one of a kind resort : 1. breakfast : there are only four breakfasts options from Monday to Friday, and buffet on Saturday and Sunday.... We had an afternoon Executive meeting in the Boardroom. It was a good facility in an amazing place of history. It was very quiet and peaceful. Really a little oasis. We had dinner at Aman and the food and service was exquisite. It would easily have been the best Chinese Banquet we had. The flavours were subtle and balanced. All... More

It is not luxurious nor heavy decor but grimsed with Manchu Royal surrounding. It never comes with any expected format of reception or concierge counter, it all comes in personal, with every staff working for you, leading you way in and out, and also enjoy when you were inside Summer Palace. The way of layout entire resort was totally ancient... More

Dined at the Grill Restaurant for lunch. From arrival and the initial meet and greet, the entire experience was outstanding. Very personalized service from the Chef, Wesley and the wait staff - Hilda. Food quality was also outstanding.

This is a beautiful hotel. The facilities are incredible, all of them. The grounds are incredible there is a small pond with fish and a pavilion by it to do tai chi if you want. On the other side of hte pond is a lovely outdoor terrarce for drinks or light tea. The rooms are spacious and lovely. Every night... More

It is a hotel like no other hotels, because it is actually IN the Summer Palace yet you don't feel it. The hotel compound is enormous, the rooms are big and decorated in the Imperial Chinese styles with all modern facilities and the restaurants serve good food. The management claims they have a staff/guest ratio of 4.5 to 1. Need... More

Location: I don't know how Aman managed to secure this amazing location. Attached to the beautiful summer palace and accessible via a back door. My wife said it felt like Harry Potter walking through "Platform 9 3/4", transitioning from one world to another, leaving behind a bustling crowded public park and entering into the calm serenity of old style Beijing... Let me introduce myself as a ‘discerning traveler’ who has stayed in some of the most luxurious hotels of the world (Four Seasons, St Regis, COMO, Rosewood, Peninsula to name a few). When traveling, I like to pick my hotels by using websites such as Kiwicollection, Conde Nast magazine, Travel & Leisure (see my other reviews and my blog). So... More

Not up to the Aman standards. This property is located in a fabulous setting on the north side of Beijing, adjoining the Summer Palace. You can get up in the morning and walk through the hotel grounds to a discreet door that opens up into the Summer Palace. It's magical - like stepping through the secret door at Disney. The... More
