I stayed for 2 weeks (14 nights) at the Mercure Beijing Downtown in Oct-Nov 2014. In terms of buildings and facilities, I thought the hotel was nice. The bed was comfortable, the room had all the amenities one expects in a normal hotel room, and everything was clean. As with most hotels in China, they provide two bottles of drinking... More

Stayed in this hotel in Nov 2014 - and found it to be an excellent choice for the independent minded traveler in Beijing. 10-15 min easy walk to subway (Dwanglu station), which provided easy access on the main subway line to Tiananmen Qquare, Wangfujing shopping, the Temple of Heaven, and more. Rooms were clean and functional. Breakfast was above average.... More

Myself and family stayed at this hotel on 2 occasions during our 2 week holiday in China. Whilst it is not in the best location - the closest subway being a 15 minute walk away and not many eating areas around, we did not find this too much of a negative. Our first stay was for 6 nights requiring 2... More

Fabulous hotel. Rooms are very large, clean. Hotel staff is very good. Location is not the best, but not bad. Breakfast buffet is the very best. All types of food. Western and eastern foods. I really enjoyed the espresso, go figure great espresso in China.

Up to the standard for a reasonable price. Rooms have not been renovated in the last years, but they are still okay and reasonable clean. Be aware to ask for a non-smoking room. There is a pool and a gym, but they not great. Breakfast is also up to standard. The service in the restaurant was poor. In contrary to... More

We stayed here for 4 nights on a tour of China. It appeared that most of the guests were american but very little English was spoken. On one occasion we ordered a pizza in their resturant along with bottled water. The pizza in no way tasted anything like pizza and instead of water, they brought butter. The carpet in the... More

Out of all the hotels we stayed in on our 2 week+ trip, this was the best for Breakfast! Espresso...Yes! Hot Milk..Wow! Loads of choices..eat up! The pool was clean, if small...and very relaxing..don't forget your swim cap! The only negative was they turn the a/c off around 1-2AM...you will wake up sweating if it is warm out...our solution was... More

The hotel itself is not too bad, you can tell it's old but quite well maintained. A mini market across the street, and some local eateries near by. The room is really big, but poorly designed/decorated; towels are thin and worn out. Free WiFi is kinda slow. Breakfast is not so good, and employees at restaurant can barely understand English....
