I do not think I am an unreasonable person. I chose to stay in a hutong (alley) hotel and I wanted to minimise lodging costs so I should not expect a Sheraton. And I did not! It is just unfortunate that our two rooms have bathroom problems. Ours did not have any shower curtain and even I asked for it,... More

Very easily accessible from Beijing airport and not to expensive in a cab to get to - they might have to drop you off at the end of the road as the streets are very narrow in the old town and with all the cars and bikes parked along it can be difficult for taxis to maneuver down there (if... More

We stayed here for 5 nights in December and had a great time. It is really central for The Forbidden City, The Art Gallery and Tienanmen Square (all walkable in 15 minutes). 10 minutes from 2 good subway lines and surrounded by good Hutong restaurants and 'Beijing Hot Pot' cafe's. The room was lovely with antique Chinese furniture and soft... More

This hotel is nestled in one of Beijing's historic hutongs. It was about 80 rmb to reach from the airport, which is about 45 minutes away. The hotel is perfectly located, near subways, and with the main sights a few train stops away (Lama temple, Ghost st, snack st, tiennamen sq, forbidden city, silk market etc..). The staff speaks fluent... More

Stayed here for one night with three friends. We shared a deluxe family room which was absolutely beautiful. It felt very authentic and it had a beautiful courtyard on the ground floor. Bathroom and rest of room were clean. The food was nice too - there was both a western and chinese menu - but the service was mediocre. They... More

I arrived in Beijing by the early train from Xian. My taxi had problems finding the place and when we did I was told they could not put me up for more than one night because of a double booking. The next couple of days I was to stay in a business hotel nearby and return to them for the... More

Travelling from the UK wanted to find something not so Western in Beijing. This is in a good location close to the centre of the city, not far from the subway and tucked away in a Hutong. The staff are very friendly, speak a good level of English and were keen to ensure we were comfortable. Dont expect all mod... More

The hotel lies at barely 20 mins distant from the Forbidden City which is kind of the center of Beijing. The rooms are nice and comfortable but a little short on space but for the price the place is really good. They even provide for a rent a bike facility which I managed to utilize throughout my stay at the... More

There are many hutongs in Beijing; some of them are charming, others are way too old, poorly maintained, dirty areas. XiaoYuan Hotel luckily belongs to the first group. We met a young and cheerful personnel who spoke English. Although we arrived several hours before our booked check-in time they quickly made our room ready for us and allowed us to... More

4 of 5 stars Reviewed July 9, 2014 via mobile

We stayed for three nights in July. Overall it is a nice, clean hotel. Our room felt a little congested because most of the space was taken up by a massive four poster bed (which was actually very comfortable and kind of fun to sleep in). The location is decent, and we were able to rent bicycles directly from the... More
