The best thing by far about 161 Hotel is the location. It's a ten minute walk from the main shopping strip and about 20 minutes walk from the Forbidden City. There're also two metro stations and a bus stop closeby. Plenty of restaurants in the area too. The rooms are basic but clean and perfectly reasonable when you're likely to... More

Very friendly and helpful staff with excellent English. They recommended some good places to eat and we booked an excursion to the great wall and an acrobat performance through them which were both good value and hassle free. The hotel was clean and had everything we needed (especially air-con and a working shower!). Overall, good value, excellent staff and highly... More

You can't get better than staying in such a central location, we were sceptical at first after reading man reviews but we were surprised by its location. I shared a twin room with my friend, the room was clean, water pressure good and there was air con. It was basic but we weren't there to stay in the room all... More

I travelled with my family (myself, my wife and our 17 years old daughter),. We stayed 5 nights. The room we were given was rather small, had no place where we could store our clothes (we had to leave them in the bags for all our stay) and was partially underground (too dark and humid). The toilet and shower were... More

Very efficient front reception, friendly and can speak English quite well. Checked in at 10pm and only took less than 5 minutes. Got upgraded to Family Room for free on the 2nd floor. For what you pay, the rooms were in mint condition, carpet is fairly old though. Many restaurants close-by as well as a mini-mart, essential to buy bottled... More

From outside it does not look like much but the inside was a lot nicer. The staff was very friendly and eager to help us with all of our questions. We got upgraded to a deluxe room which was a bit larger than the regular rooms but not by much. The rooms were well kept, but we did find a... More

Because the three of us, we took family room and we stayed for 2 nights. Our room was a little bit too small for us as we have quite a few luggage and nowhere to put our luggages. Staff very very friendly and helpful, there English communication skills are sufficient. Close to metro, bus, which makes it so easy to... More

The location of this hotel is excellent. We arrived from the metro and it was a breeze. Being so close to the metro was a huge advantage in our week-long stay, as we were on and off all the time. The walk to Jingshan Park or Tiananmen Square was about 20 mins. There is a nice feel to this place... More

Great little hotel in a hutong - with lovely places to eat outside the door. Nice staff with English - and a tour desk inside if you like that sort of thing( we didn't do a tour with them so cannot say if they are good or not). There is little cafe inside too for breakfast and drinks - nice... More
