Gate 1 chose this hotel for our stay in Beijing. It is near Tiananmen Square (not walking distance), but not to much else. The walls were paper thin (there was a baby in a room close to ours), but it was a comfortable room. The breakfast area was nice and the breakfast was sufficient (although one morning, I saw some... I stayed here 3 nights as part of a Gate 1 tour. When I arrived from the airport I wasn't even sure this was a hotel and I was concerned that my taxi driver was leaving me here. NO SIGNS saying this is a hotel. Park on the street, walk down an alley, go down an escalator to a receiving... More

it was better than that i expected, so much talking about hard beds in china, all the hotels that i stayed during my 13 days trip had good, regular beds... this hotel has a nice chinese theme, you can exchange money in the lobby, nice buffete breakfast, nice neighborhood around with many stores and restaurants and very safe, staff does... For the price you are paying to stay here, you get a pretty good deal. It's clean and quiet and in an area that has all sorts of stores you may need: a pharmacy, coffee shop, produce shop, wine/cigarette shop, laundry, restaurants, banks, and even a decent spa across the main street. The room was clean and spacious (I even... More

Modernized older hotel right next to a temple; wonderful Chinese feel to it. Large room & bath. Chinese neighborhood. Great breakfast. Pleasant lobby. Good hotel restaurant. Nice staff but most do not speak English with any fluency; concierge does not speak any English at all; asking for information becomes very tedious. Bathroom: caulking needs to be maintained as there is... More

We were here with a tour group (Gate 1). For what we paid, this hotel was pretty good. Our room had a very large bed, but not a good view. It had weird ceiling windows and the bathroom tub flooded sometimes. The room was clean & the location wasn't to bad. There is different types of food close by &... More

We just travelled to Beijing on business and this room was booked for us. I have stayed in Beijing before and there are many other great hotels. This hotel was very dirty and the mold in the bathrooms was unacceptable;) Rooms were so smoke infested that it made it hard to breathe. Asked manager to open up several rooms for... More

We stayed here as part of a Gate 1 travel group, also.... The hotel actually turned out to be one of the nicest we stayed at within our tour. I would agree that is not a 4 star hotel by American standards.. But, we found the hotel to be completely acceptable to a rather demanding group of travelers. Our room... More

This was the first hotel we stayed in when we arrived in China from the States. I'm very much into Chinese architecture and decor so I was quite impressed that the hotel has been built around a former Buddhist temple so has a definite Asian theme in its look and furnishings. The rooms likewise had a Chinese flair to the... More

Rooms NOT clean, buffet barely edible....I don't know who's ranking these things but claiming 4 star even by Chinese standards is a stretch. We stayed there for 4 bites and tried to change rooms based on the black mold in the room but the other 2 choices had the same problem if not worse. The hotel restaurant is priced for... More
