We stayed here during our second stayover in Beijing during a two-week stint in China. This hotel is in an authentic Beijing hutong. Aside the folks in the hotel you won't bump into too many people who speak English, but as in many Asian cities, the hutongs - or the alleys - are where the real neighborhood action takes place.... Firstly this hotel is very difficult to find, don't attempt to find it yourself. Take a taxi and give them the directions you can get the directions on their website in Chinese. The hostel itself is very basic. Not the cleanest place to be honest. There was dust & dirt on the floor in the corners. The walls are very... More

I do not recommend this hostel/hutong hotel if you would like a typical warm friendly Beijing welcome. (Beijingers are incredibly nice people, just not at this hotel) Despite its beautiful, clean authentic settings, the unprofessionalism and hostility of the staff, can ruin your stay. For $75 night, you can and should definitely find better. Pros: beautiful hutong house, nicely decorated... More

We stayed in the 5 bed dorm with private bathroom, and although the accommodation is very basic, it is clean. What makes this hostel so special is not the room, however. It is the location in the hutongs that is so wonderful. We wandered through the alleys, ate street food and just enjoyed getting a glimpse into the lives of... More

I tend to feel that it's the people you meet and the welcome you get which make a hostel great and for that I'd give this place full marks. It's family run and the girls we met who run it are so lovely, smiley and friendly. They went out of their way to help us whenever they could. They also... More

Hotel: Lianlian Hutong Guest House Room Type: King Bed Yes it's cheap, but basics such as hygiene + health & safety aren't to be risked! This accomodation is a Hostel. It is not a B&B or Guesthouse, as advertised on websites such as Agoda. We stayed in a Room Type: King Bed. The room did have a King Bed. It... More

I stayed here a total of 15 nights in July/August 2010 with my husband, adult daughter and two extended family members. Initially there was some confusion about our reservation (three different rooms and different parties arriving different days and all five of us had to share two rooms for two nights) but once the confusion was settled, Bobby and the... I just spent 3 weeks living a Lianlian Guest house and now that I have left, I feel a real sadness. I went there to improve my Mandarin and it worked. The people there adopted me into their family and I was able to really get a real experience of living in China. The location in the Hutong gives you... More
