I chose DRUM because I was intrigued by the idea of staying in a capsule hostel, and was pleasantly surprised to find that my private room wasn't as cramped as I'd feared. With a double bed and a small but serviceable bathroom, it was a perfect retreat at the end of a long day of exploration. If I had one... More

We stayed here for a week. Clean comfortable double room with many power sockets around to charge your electronics. Water pressure was great and they provide liquid soap and shampoo. Hair dryer provided. They also provide filtered drinking water and we did laundry there too for 30 yuan per load. Nice location close to the drum tower and hutongs, about... More

This is really cheap place, so don't expect much but it's very good located in the center of Beijng. Friendly, helpful english speaking staff. In the evenings hotel bar is full of people from all over the world it's worth to spend some time there.

Hello and thank you for your great comments. Thank you for saying that we are a really cheap place. For what we provide, our room prices are very reasonable. Although our dorm prices are above average - you do get your own personal capsule/cabin, which is good fun and almost like a private room. Non-guests can also visit our cafe-bar.... More

This place was renewed in 2014 and deserves a much better rating. It's now a capsule hostel where everyone in the dorm gets to stay in their own capsule/pod. Great idea and easily worth the extra price as it gives you a little private space. Definitely the most interesting choice out of the hostels ive stayed at in Beijing. I... More

Hello, and thank you for your great comments. We ask that guests please ignore any reviews previous to summer 2014. The whole hotel has been renovated and there is a new cafe-bar. All dorm beds are now in the form of separate capsules/cabins (or "hobbit-holes"!). They are very popular with guests. We also offer private single capsules with toilet and... More

If you are looking for a very cheap dorm bed in a good location in the Drum Tower area of Beijing, and don’t mind having to wear flip flops to avoid the dirt, then this place will do the job. The location is very good, about a 5 minute walk to Guloudajie line 2 subway station and very close to... More

It was a nice, clean room. it is a hostel, so don't be expecting the Hilton. Very convenient to Houhai (bar street), also to the subway. The common room is very nice with tables to use your computer. The counter people are very helpful. They had one or two cats walking around wanting to have their ears scratched, cute. They... More

Don't let the lobby fool you, the rooms are in terrible condition. I had to clean the mirror just so I could shave in the morning. The bedding was torn and stained. There is a cute sign on the bathroom wall warning you to use the floor matt(sp). Unfortunately, there was no mat, just a moldy outline of one on... More

Stayed 5 days. Comfortable, close to subway. Walkable to many of the things and places you will want to see. Very useful information board and excellent wifi connection. Quiet at night for sleeping. A little dingy in bathrooms but manageable.

The location was great, 10 mins walk from the nearest subway entrance. Macdonald was within 1 minute distance. Further Southwards, there are quite a number of fine dining restaurant, which serves good food at reasonable pricing. The lobby was nicely decorated. We stayed at the 4th floor (Room 410) , which provides the best view, however the room was filthy.... More

If they just gave this place a bloody good scrub it'd be a great hostel. It's in a great location, about a 2 minute walk from Guloudajie subway station. There are lots of things to see in the surrounding area that are walking distance, and numerous street food stalls and restaurants around. If you're weary when you arrive, right over... More
