Everything is ok. Staff could speak English well. Room is large. Great Wall, Forbidden palace, food market and a day just cycling around in Beijing stopping wherever. in the middle of a friendly and quaint residential area with a mixture of homes, bars and restaurant. None to busy or noisy, just right. Great place, helpful staff with good suggestions when... More

Wonderful hotel, very friendly and helpful staff. A bit difficult for taxis to find, but fairly close to the Metro. Great place to stay if you want a taste of old (and real) China. Breakfast is very reasonable and good. The inner courtyard where breakfast is served is lovely.

First and imporantly, this is a chinese guesthouse and no western hotel. If you fancy western standards and luxury, go for the latter. But if you are the type who like a bit of local culture and experience, this is a great place. In addition, it's not very expensive. Manager Bobby and his assistents speak a little bit of English,... This was a traditional Chinese hotel in a district that will probably be gone to redevelopment in 20 years. It is accessible down an alley way where locals pass by on electric bikes. It is a one story hotel with 9 rooms. The rooms are air conditioned and comfortable. There is a central courtyard with a ping pong table, fish... More

This accommodation looked more like a guesthouse. I had decided to stay here based on the positive reviews on TripAdvisor. This guesthouse is right smacked in the middle of old residential Hutong area. I loved the vibe and feeling of staying amongst the locals. I could see locals getting their breakfast at the shops in the morning and the neighbourhood... More

The staff was so great. For a true cultural experience in a real hutong this is the place. It is located in a traditional hutong area, surrounded by local residents and Chinese history. You can take breakfast in the hutong or in a main street has a very good pastry with a very cheap prices. Not have the luxury or... More

I chose this hostel based on the reviews and comments about the hutong area, but unfortunately, it was not what I expected. Bobby from the reception was very helpful with directions and buying a train ticket for me right in the middle of Golden Week, which was highly appreciated. While the facilities were basic, the beds were comfy and the... More

I've stayed at Templeside twice, first in 2011 and most recently in September 2013 and have really enjoyed it both times. Bobby (owner) and his team are great and will also help arrange train tickets, outings and anything else you might need. For a true cultural experience in a real living/working hutong this is the place. Note that this is... More

We had a lovely stay at this guesthouse for 4-5 nights. It is located in a traditional hutong area, surrounded by local chinese residents and history. It is near to a subway stop or its easy and very cheap to grab a taxi on street nearby. Clean, comfortable, quiet and charming. Helpful and friendly staff. Quirky communal area with ping-pong...
