We enjoyed staying in the hutong area of Beijing at Courtyard 7 to experience this type of architecture and setting. It was in a busy area with plenty of shops, restaurants and places to get a drink yet the hotel itself was very quiet and peaveful. The staff is very friendly. Breafast is included and was a nice variety of... More

Courtyard 7 lived up to all of the reviews we had read, with an excellent, quiet and secure room, wonderful staff and good dining (our favourite Kung pau chicken). Staff were most helpful in organising transfers, trips to the Great Wall, Summer Palace etc and the area was buzzing with shops and people enjoying Golden Week (mostly the young, taking... More

For our anniversary trip, we decided to split our stay between a modern hotel near Forbidden City (for sightseeing) and experience "Hutong" style accommodation (for romantic and historical reasons). I have searched endless hours online to find a "hutong" that is at mid range price, accessible location and modern facilities. Courtyard 7 did not fail me.I was dreading to see... More

Stayed at Courtyard 7 for five nights at the beginning of September, and were so pleased with our choice of hotel. The location and surroundings are very authentic; Chinese way of living in the hutong. Situated off of the main alley Nanlouxiang, which has many shops, bars and restaurants, and is a ten minute walk to Hou Hai back lake,... More

This hotel has the best of both worlds... Old world charm with modern conveniences. Our room was small but beautifully decorated and stocked with everything you could need. For a hutong hotel the plumbing was really good with (mostly) hot water! Breakfast was really good with decent selection, and the staff is really helpful and accommodating. There was always someone... More

A little and charming hotel in a former courtyard. An oasis of tranquillity in a hectic city. Good and enthusiastic staff (English spoken) and in particular Nancy is a great help. Based in a hutong and near a populair touristic street. But as told, you don't hear anything. And If you are tired after a long day, take a beer... More

Courtyard 7 is a real gem of a hotel. We decided to stay there with our children rather than a standard 'western' hotel and are extremely pleased we did. It is a lovely calm quiet place with beautiful rooms. Be aware that you will need to walk approx 100-200m with your luggage as you can't get cars to the door... More

The hotel is a series of courtyards in a traditional courtyard house; the bedrooms are a bit unusual as a result - they're the old house rooms, refurbished, and they're quite charming. They're air-conditioned. The hotel staff couldn't have been more friendly or more helpful and there was always someone on hand who spoke English. The breakfasts are fine -... More

In the hearth of the Hutong, this place is very quiet and the rooms are very clean. We booked a superior room and we get an upgrade for the suite with a private Sauna. The service is very good and people help you with any questions. One regret : the breakfast could be more "Chnesee" rather than western food.
