We stayed in this courtyard hotel for just under a week on our first visit to China. Good sized ensuite room, hostel prices. Breakfast is not worth it, though - pop down the road to Mr Shi's dumpling house where you can get fresh juice and a variety of food.

Hutongs used to be tradicional neighbourhoods with communal houses, with families sharing interior gardens. My husband and I visited my family for 2 weeks in October and booked all 13 nights in Citycourt Hotel. The hotel is very safe with 24 hour front desk staff. They lock the front doors after a certain hour, 2am maybe, but there are always staff to answer the door bell. Our room had its own card access door.... More
