Other more recent reviews suggest that it may no longer be a hotel , so check first. However if it is , we had a very nice stay. We had to move out of another highly rated small hotel in a hutong as it was not as expected, and the staff here made our transfer and check in so much... More

Upon our arrival at Shijia House late May, we discovered it no longer serves as a hotel but is being converted in to a restaurant. Fortunately, the Red Wall Garden hotel (diagonally opposite, also on Shijia Hutong) took over our reservation without extra charge. Quiet, peaceful location in lovely neighborhood; great traditional (and affordable) Beijing restaurant nearby (look for the... More

We stayed for three nights in Shi Jia house on our trip to Beijing in July 2010. While the concept of a courtyard hotel was good the actual experience was altogether different. We had one of the delux rooms that faces the main courtyard. Since the windows/door open directly into the courtyard there was no choice but to keep the... More

Very charming and well located hotel. The staff was friendly and helpful, but the level of English varied widely. The rooms open onto a lovely courtyard. The property is centrally located, but the entrance is down a small side street (hutong) so not every taxi driver was able to get us there. Unless you speak Chinese and are able to... More

We loved this charming hotel with friendly, helpful staff who spoke English. The location was great with lots to explore and a subway stop nearby. Many taxis had a hard time finding it, so be sure to have the address written in Chinese and a map. It was clean, comfortable and had plenty of amenitites. There is an unpleasant odor... More

We have just returned from 3 weeks travelling around China and I feel compelled to write a review to say how FANTASTIC this hotel is! We stayed in a standard double room for 2 nights at the end of our trip and chose it as we were looking for a courtyard style hotel with a bit of luxury and this... More

It is as the pictures depict. We had deluxe rooms #1 and #2. Both were lovely with tall ceilings, comfy beds, very nice decor, large bathrooms with nice toiletries supplied (although the bottles were in Chinese and it took some time to decipher which bottles were which - shampoo, conditioner, body lotion, hand soap, etc.). The courtyard area was great... More

This is a very nice boutique courtyard hotel located in the city center of Beijing. Even though the building itself is brand new , the street and its trees are old and the decoration of the rooms reminds of ancient times. There's a subway just around the corner and the main shopping street and forbidden city are in walking distance.... More
