Beijing 161 Lama Temple Courtyard Hotel is a great 11 room hotel in the Beijing hutong area. Close to two metro stations is a perfect spot to start your city adventures. Being placed in a hutong allows you to go beyond the wide streets and monstrous buildings of the Tiananmen Square and see some more real Chinese life. The hotel... More

Website pictures are a little deceiving; facilities are not perfect but very good for the price and staff is very friendly and helpful. Has two nice courtyard (front and back) and a roof deck, shared a 4 bed dorm with 3 other family members (young teens). The ”ensuite” (our restroom) wasn’t so private, it wasn’t even in the room, but... More

I'm not really sure where to start with this place, booked online and emailed that we would be arriving late at night, got reply that this is fine. When we got there he couldn't find our booking, when he finally found it he had overbooked, but had "generously" upgraded us free of charge, "The best room in the house" apparently.... More

I had a great stay with the staff actually buying me breakfast one morning!!! I would recommend for couples and solos. The location was great down a small hutong but close to restaurants, transport etc. Rooms are a bit small but welcome to China.

this small scale hotel consists of several rooms / bungalows (the typical old style chinese ones), and a 4 bed dorm. Staff is friendly, helpfull and keeps everything clean! Right in the center of the real China. At night the street is very alive, full of small restaurants and street BBQ's. Nearest subway is 5 mins by foot. I've stayed... More

I was excited to stay in the hutong and I will agree that the location is excellent. We arrived late and they were there for our arrival. Our king bed, that we had reserved, basically filled the room and the bathroom was so stinky, that we asked to see another room. We ended up opting for the twin beds and... More

We arrived at Alley Garden on the 2nd of August at 11 p.m. A young and friendly boy received us and explained all the available services (free wifi, safety box, laundry and breakfast with fee, tour booking) and given us a city map together with some "tip". We booked the hotel online for 6 nights and we paid all at... More

This is a small hotel near the Lama Temple (Yonghegong) in the Dongcheng district northwest of the forbidden city. It is in a narrow hutong where in the heat of the summer people spend a lot of their time outside in the streets. The hotel is completely renovated with small but clean rooms. They have a few double rooms as... More
