Charming little hutong hotel, easy location for sightseeing, set between two metro stations. Great atmosphere, fabulous staff who spoke good English and had great advice for getting about, tours, and local restaurants. Would definitely recommend and go back again.

We had 8 nights here - 3 of us. Room was kept extremely clean, all western facilities. Like all beds in China quite hard but staff very willing to provide extra mattress on request. What's good about this place? Location - walking distance to two subway stations, can access anywhere on subway system, it is easy, in English and infallible.... More

This hotel with only 11 rooms gives you everything if you are looking for something different from just another international hotel chain. Very friendly, helpful and english speeking staff. Charming room with spacy shower in the bathroom. Nice bed linen and clean all over. However, for us staying here 6 nights, the location in this "hutong" was an even greater... More

This hotel is a Chinese style hotel in a courtyard, but not a Marriott Courtyard. This is not a hotel for five star junkies but the experience is well worth it. We had a remarkable stay because of the small size of the hotel (<10 rooms) plus excellent food and extremely competent staff with excellent people skills. Definitely worth while

We stayed here for 3 nights and glad we chose to stay in a hutong. The hotel is located down a lane, which is full of cafes, bikes, cars passing each other and people! Inside the hotel, it is quiet, with a small reception desk, located in the sitting/dining area. The room comprieses of sofa chairs, draped with rugs, large... More

The hotel was the perfect place for three pals to acclimatize to a new culture, exciting food and biking in and around Beijing. We stayed there two nights in preparation for a nine day bike tour. And I can't think of a better place to start. The rooms were clean and comfortable (and pretty)!! The staff so kind and tremendously... More

I wanted to experience the culture & decided to find a hotel in one of the hutongs. Although small only ~10 rooms I am glad I chose this one. People have said it is hard to find & these narrow streets can be missed but the hotel sent me directions which I printed & sent to my driver: Johnyellowcar. Although... More

We stayed in this hotel for 5 nights. Hotel is "hidden" in a small local alley which might at first seem a bit scary to newcomers to China, however once you get to know this alley better you actually start to love it - it is filled with local small shops and restaurants and people are all very friendly. Hotel... More

We wished we could have stayed here longer. Lovely authentic feeling small hotel located down an alley in the older part of the city. Handy to the metro Was great to walk back in the evening and see the locals cooking their meals on the side of the road as we approached the hotel. The rooms are wonderfully decorated, we... More

Having read a number of reviews on Tripadvisor for Beijing, we booked Hotel 161 in Lama Temple. The reviews mentioned the location was out of town and in the Hutongs which we did not really understand. We tried 4 taxis at the airport before anyone would take us. Eventually we got a driver and the cost was 100 RMB to... More
