I arrived late in the afternoon and the staff was extremely helpful, they pointed me right to the Forbidden City and the Night Markets. When I returned in the evening I book a great wall trip with them, the tour was great. I had a private room right in the courtyard which was perfect.

A little difficult to find - even my taxi driver couldn't find this place. Regardless, since cars are not allowed in many of the streets nearby, it was up to me to find - with the help of several locals. Once inside this 100+ year-old traditional house, it was like stepping into another world. There is a huge communal courtyard... More

This was the first hostel we stayed in while in China and it was also our favourite. Arriving at 3 am in Beijing it certainly wasn't easy to find (and we were picked up by a driver who had ample time to check its location) but it didn't take long to get our bearings. Great location - quick walk to... More

I was going to stay here for 3 nights, but my initial encounter with the staff was so positive that I immediately extended for an extra night. They were extremely helpful, and not just in answering your queries in a routine that they repeat for everybody - they genuinely sought to provide me the information I needed for my time... More

A cozy place hidden in Nianzi Hutong, this little hostel has a central location very close to JingShan park, the houhai lakes and central Beijing. The staff could probably smile a little more but that's probably a culture thing. A lot of help / maps offered including tips on where to eat etc. The rooms are cozy (read small) but... More

Overall I enjoyed the stay at City walls. The staff was very helpful, the food was very tasty and cheap (I would do anything to get their dumpling and soup) and the location very central. The rooms are a bit a pricey though and quite small - hostel size but hotel rates !! The location is good for exploring forbidden... More

Pros - staff are excellent and friendly, location is really central, room is comfortable and nice, food ordered from the on-site kitchen tasty and CHEAP, Overall fantastic, I would recommend, and I would stay again! Cons....the bathroom is clean and definitely functional, but the water pressure was pretty minimal. Hang in there with the location...when you first walk into the... More

Okay, so it took me a little while to find (do not cross the road when leaving the subway, take a left at the end of the street) and when I was close I was a bit dubious about it from the outside. However incr i had entered I was very happy with this place. The staff are friendly and... More

Loved my stay here. Hosts were incredibly friendly and spent a lot of time at checkin explaining the local area and making sure we enjoyed our stay. The hosts could also arrange local trips which saves the hassle of arguing with shady and overpriced tour operators. Rooms quite nice as hostels go. In a safe and convenient area, although is... City walls was amazing. As soon as we arrived we were given a map of the city and taken through all the main attractions and where we were in relation. The service is outstanding and they speak English really well. Only thing I would advise is to try and get a room that doesn't face the courtyard, ours did but... More
