We really enjoyed our stay at this hostel - the staff were friendly & helpful, it was clean with good facilities & was an oasis of calm in the bustling city that is Beijing. We would not hesitate to return in the future and would highly recommend it if you are looking for authentic Chinese style accommodation close to the... More

This is the best hostel I've ever stayed in. It was quiet, clean, friendly, helpful. This is not the hostel for you if you like to "party." Which is precisely why I chose it. I want a hostel where I can talk to fellow travelers, relax when desired, and sleep when the time comes. This hostel is perfect for those... More

Having read many reviews re numerous hostels in Beijing, we decided to stay at City Walls during our time in Beijing. I can recommend it with much confidence and would not mind to return to this jewel in the heart of Beijing. We always felt special and our needs were always met in double-quick time. Whenever we returned after a... More

I must admit we were not sure about stopping here as we are a couple in our early 60's and were persuaded to give it a go as our son had stopped there previously. We were very surprised and delighted with the hostel. The rooms are small (as pointed out by previous comments) but you only sleep there. The owners... More

Nice hostel in an authentic hutong, very close to the Forbidden City. Stayed here for a week. Friendly owner and great advice on do's and don'ts. He booked me a tour to the Jinshanling section of the Great Wall, as promised without visits to tourist traps. The more you talk to the staff, the more they will talk back, so... More

I was really hopping for the best when I chose this place. The reviews for here said it was a god staff, clean beds, decent bathrooms, and a quiet atmosphere. They were right!! Upon arrival I was met by the owner and was quickly gifted with a local map and cheat sheet to the major attractions with awesome directions to... More

I enjoyed staying here as it felt very authentic, all the rooms set around a courtyard beautifully decorated and atmospheric. It was very quiet and relaxing. The food menu offered is very good value, I recommend the noodle soup! They have someone at the reception 24hrs, the staff are very helpful and their English is good. Perfect location, it is... More

I arrived late in the afternoon and the staff was extremely helpful, they pointed me right to the Forbidden City and the Night Markets. When I returned in the evening I book a great wall trip with them, the tour was great. I had a private room right in the courtyard which was perfect.

A little difficult to find - even my taxi driver couldn't find this place. Regardless, since cars are not allowed in many of the streets nearby, it was up to me to find - with the help of several locals. Once inside this 100+ year-old traditional house, it was like stepping into another world. There is a huge communal courtyard... More

This was the first hostel we stayed in while in China and it was also our favourite. Arriving at 3 am in Beijing it certainly wasn't easy to find (and we were picked up by a driver who had ample time to check its location) but it didn't take long to get our bearings. Great location - quick walk to... More
