As the name suggest Lion camp is situated in an area that is teeming with wildlife and especially big cats, in fact the Big Cat Diary is filmed near there and the best thing is that it's a private conservancy, so you don't get 20 mini-vans around you while you watching a lion and you can actually observe cheetahs hunting... more

If you want to experience a real safari in the most natural environment possible without cement and other permanent man-made structures, then the Porini Camps booked through Gamewatchers is the route you want to take. I celebrated by 60th birthday at three of the camps and they far exceeded my expectations. I was able to experience the most enviornmentally -friendly... more

My husband and I stayed at the Lion camp for the first three days of our honeymoon. I have done safari before in Tanzania, Botswana and Kenya where my other half had not done anything like it and needless to say he was very excited!!! From the moment we landed in our little plan on a dirt strip in the... more

This is the best – so good that we’ll be returning. As privileged and experienced travellers through all continents, and with considerable game safari experience in much of Africa, including South Africa, Zimbabwe, Zambia and Namibia as well as Kenya, Lion Camp blew us away ! Imagine a very rural protected ‘Conservancy’ area, scattered with tiny Maasai villages and school,... more

My wife, our four kids and I stayed at both the Mara Porini and porini Lion camps and it was amazing. The accommodations were incredible (and eco-friendly!), the staff superb, the food was amazing and - most impressive of all - the partnership with the local Maasai people is deep and meaningful. We truly were welcomed guests amongst them. The... more

We stayed a Porini Lion Camp as the 2nd stop on our Kenya safari in November 2008. We arrived from Porini Rhino Camp and moved on to Mara Explorer Camp. The setting is marvellous, the tents all perfectly situated and well presented and very roomy and comfortable. The food was very good and the company of ther guests around the... more

We just got back from a 3-night stay at the incredible Porini Lion Camp. While the accomodations are on the spartan side (showers are "bush style," meaning a bucket with a shower head; the "flush" toilets don't flush all that well), the location and service cannot be beat. The camp is literally in the middle of the wilderness, with hippos,... more

This camp ticked all my boxes during the research process - small secluded tented camp, eco-friendly (minimum tourist impact on the environment), no tourist mini-buses, most chance of seeing the Big 5 and it even surpassed all my high expectations in reality. The staff couldn't have done more for us - they were extremely friendly and welcoming, also entertaining and... more

Where can I start! I will start by saying that I LOVED this place. The holiday that Africa Sky (Robyn) put together for me was amazing. I have never experience a holiday like this and parts were definitely life changing. Porini Lion camp was the second that i went to, I went to the Rhino camp in the previous week.... more

Porini Lion Camp was the last of three Porini camps my husband and I visited for our recent honeymoon. All three camps provided exquisite service, satisfying food and comfortable board but the wildlife in Porini Lion Camp was truly world class. Since I saw Born Free at the age of three, I have been obsessed with seeing lion in Kenya.... more
