What an amazing place. This safari lodge, built on a bend of the Mara river in the Mara North Conservancy, has its own hippo pool. Each guest has their own luxurious tent on the river bank(hand carved furniture). The game drives and walks are amazing. The driver/guides are very knowledgable and the wild life abundant. We saw 7 leopards during... More

Visited after Serena in Mara. I thought Serena was best but this facility was by far more luxury, more abundant wildlife and the best of meals. Five star cuisine was not expected. Staff extremely courteous and tried to please always. Game drives were just amazing and great photography was available. The rooms were just full of wildlife carvings and great... More

What an amazing safari retreat. Great Location. Full of wildlife. We had hippos serenade us at night. We saws several lion prides, cheetah and even leopard and a cub. Food was amazing. Totally unexpected in the middle of the bush. Top quality food. Game drives were top quality. We even had a complimentary bush game walk with two armed guides.... More

I really love this place. From the architecture (yes, there is architecture in a safari camp) to the art (hand carved furniture, beds, vanities) to the food (always fresh, lots of steaks - definitely not skimped like some other places in the Mara serving franks and beans). The staff, as usual, was friendly, and very helpful. They really showed interest... More

We have just returned (August 2014 ) from an absolutely wonderful experience at the Royal Mara Safari Lodge in the Mara North Conservancy, Kenya. There are 8 luxury lodges, not just tents, located right on the Mara river which is full of hippos and very large crocs. The Royal Mara's food menus are outstanding with their policy being "no two... Royal Mara What a fantastic lodge!! Located in Mara north, the royal Mara is situated on the banks of the Mara river. Each of the 8 luxury lodges overlook the river which is teaming with hippos and crocs. I stayed in lodge 6. This overlooked a watering hole, so everyday we would see different animals doing wander down. Within the... More

In October of 2011 a group of us ventured into the unknown by going to Africa. I had heard many things and had many preconceived ideas about how it would be ..... totally wrong! To start, everyone was pleasant and helpful. Next, the "tents" were beautiful!! Completely comfortable and huge. Just make sure you zip your tent carefully or the... More

Just returned from my second visit to the Royal Mara and whilst it did not think it was possible it surpassed my previous stay in 2011. I have stayed at 6 different safari camps/ lodges throughout Kenya and this is by far the best one. The location is brilliant on a bend of the Mara river and you constantly have... More

If you are considering a safari trip then this is the place to come. From start to finish there was nothing I could fault. The accommodation was incredible and the housekeeping was immaculate , with special touches like a hot water bottle place in you bed, clothes washed and ironed and I could not fault the cleanliness of the tent.... The semi-tented accomodation is stunningly attractive, gloriously located & serviced by a hugely attentive & friendly team. Eland browse outside your tent by day, and at night the solid timber walls & balcony of your accomodation provide reassurance that nocturnal browsers cannot enter. Huge populations of wildlife within minutes of the hotel & the best Mara river migration crossing point... More
