I have stayed at Richard's Camp numerous times and it never disappoints. While not inside the reserve there is still exceptional animal viewing and it has never ceased to amaze me. The guides are some of the best in Kenya and so welcoming and accommodating. I look forward to seeing them yearly when I travel here. The camp is beautiful... More

The way to experience Masai Mara. Who would believe you can live like this in a "tent". Attention to all details, excellent food and most concerning staff. Richard really has a great team and done a fabulous job in creating a great atmosphere. They also really make sure you see all the wildlife that fortunately still is around. Saweverything except... This was our first family trip to Africa and our stay at Richard's Camp was definitely the highlight of our trip. From the moment we arrived Kaila and Shawn were extraordinary hosts who always went our of their way to make us feel so at home -- they really made us feel like family. Their warm, engaging and gracious hospitality... More

With out the great relationships and respect shown between management (Sean and Kaila) and it staff this place would not fell like my home away from home. The management were helpful and accommodating in every way, the staff were amazing from great guides to fantastic meals to great serviced five star accommodation. The dinner by the Hippos was one to... More

Richard's Camp was absolutely the perfect way to kick off our African experience. Kyla and Sean were amazing hosts, making us feel at home right away. Our every need was catered to without losing our sense of wilderness and adventure. We were simply blown away by the attention to detail and extra effort that Richard's put in to make sure... More

Richard's Camp was the "unknown" camp heading into the trip with my family and I. After stops in Serengeti, Ngorongoro, and Zanzibar, I can say that Richard's has the best people, guides, and wildlife out of any of the stops. The staff created a laid-back atmosphere, allowing us to create our own schedule. Richard's also had many surprises that I... More

A small yet luxurious camp that is truly my favourite place in the Mara. Nestled in a lush kopje, this eloquent camp is the perfect spot to come home to and relax on the plush sofas warmed by an open fire after all the excitement of a game drive. The mouth-watering 3 course meals should be Michelin starred and the... More

I have traveled all over Africa, stayed in all of the most acclaimed camps, Richard's is at the very top of my list! My son and I climbed Mt. Kilimanjaro, and went from there straight into Richard's...our "tent" was so cozy, water bottles at our feet when we tucked in for the night, loved the bucket shower, everything about it... More

Richards camp has a rustic relaxed atmosphere- if you have ever envisaged the real africa (from story books) this is where you must stay. Equipped with wonderful hosts, hot and large (the largest bucket shower I have ever had) home cooked food, great wines, very comfortable beds, extremely spacious tents and your own privacy. Not only are you away from... More

My husband and I finished our Kenya safari with 4 nights at Richard's Camp in September 2011. It's a small camp in a private conservancy a bit removed from the Masai Mara National Park, but that proved to be a plus as the area was uncrowded and we had some wonderful wildlife sightings both near the camp and en route... Hi Sailgirl, Thank you so much for such an extensive and interesting review - this will be super useful for people wondering about whether to come and stay at Richard's Camp...
