I spent 4 days in Cottar's 1920s with my girlfriend and my 8 year old son. We absolutely loved the place. You can really enjoy the 1920s atmosphere if you want to, or you can just focus on the safari if you want to. We took 1920s clothes for the evenings, and it really gave you a sense of being... More

What can I say that hasn't already been said? The old world glamour is what first attracted me to Cottars - the old world glamour and the family history is what initially gave it charm. We stayed at quite a few places during our visit to East Africa, some more luxurious, but nothing stays in my mind more than Cottars.... More

This camp has a real 1920's safari feel with the best management team we have ever encountered in the Mara. As experienced Masai Mara lovers we were so impressed with our recent stay that we wrote a sincere thank you letter to the management upon our return home. Nothing we asked for was too much trouble, the staff were superbly... More

I am, as my kids would say, an extremely picky traveler, eternally in search of ways to avoid tourists. I have lived twice in Kenya (and still do) and traveled here often in between so the country is no stranger to me. If you fly into the Mara, your last sightings of tourist vans will be at the Keekorok airstrip... More

This post is long overdue. We spent three days at Cottars for our honeymoon and it was more than we could have expected. Of course the accommodations were amazing and we got to see 3 of the big 5 (elephant, buffalo, and lion), but this was all expected. The reason why we were so pleasantly surprised is all due to... Cottar's Camp was absolutely fantastic ! We adored Cottar's Camp from the minute we arrived. This is coming from very fussy 5 star travellers who have been on several safaris including 2 at Londolozi, Sirikoi in Kenya, Chickwenya in Zimbabwe and 2 in Zambia. THE PEOPLE We had a first class guide and spotter(not revealing their names as we want... More

This is my first posting ever on tripadvisor, and i would like to thank all former guests of Cottars 1920's that have ever contributed - mostly favourably - to tripadvisor ! Thank you ! We are far from perfect and still have a lot to learn after 90 years in the business (yes we are the oldest safari company in... More

First time ever on safari and had wonderful 2 nights/3 days packed with amazing hospitality and lovely accommodation. The drives were great , the guides really knowledgable and helpful, the staff couldn't do enough for us. It was the first holiday ever that my 3 teenage children were up before us , at sun rise, excited about seeing the wildlife.... More

Travelled to Cottars with our family - three children aged 14, 12 and 6, plus friends who also have three children of similar ages. Stayed for two luxurious nights and had fantastic safari drives. Both day and evening. The guides were hugely experienced and clearly loved the area. Accommodation was outstanding and the whole ambience of the experience was outstanding.... More

We rated Cottars as the best lodge we have stayed in, having visited Kenya twice so far and visited a total of seven lodges. Accomodation was superb , staff were exceptionally helpful and friendly and Camp location was more isolated than other Masai Mara lodges. This is a very good point as it means that any animal sightings are not... More

We arrived from Kenya and Cottar's Camp last week. It was wonderful in every way. We are seasoned travelers, have been to Kenya previously, and are extremely particular about accommodations. Cottar's did not disappoint. The guides were well spoken and are all Kenyan gold rated. The service was excellent, the showers and bush baths just the right temperature and welcome... More
