This was my fifth time visiting Mara and I have always stayed with Porini camps because they offer a unique combination of things that no other camp in Mara offers. They have an excellent company called game watchers that plans your trip from the minute you land in Nairobi to your flight back home. Hildy was extremely helpful.Their arrangements are... More

This was our second stay via Game Watchers itinerary and well worthwhile because we immediately understood the difference when we came across a cheetah mother with five cubs. If this had been in the national park within 5 minutes 20 or so trucks would have descended on the team and totally interrupted her hunt which resulted with a kill to... More

This was our third Porini camp, had been to Amboseli and Rhino Camps and finished off here at Porini Mara. Originally Gamewatchers put us into Porini Lion, but hearing that we were interested in as quiet a camp experience as possible, they put us in Porini Mara as it only has 6 tents. The location is amazing, nestled in a... More

Booked our 6 night safari through Gamewatchers, Steve was very helpful and patient with us. Porini Mara Camp was the second part of Porini experience, loved this camp! Very small and quiet, staff were excellent. Sat around the fire in the evening before dinner, the food was great. Tents were spacious and had a nice sitting out area where we... More

We booked our holiday through Gamewatchers. The level of service we received throughout was excellent and as two female travellers felt very safe from the moment we landed in Nairobi. Having stayed at Porini Lion, Amboseli and Rhino camps three years ago we knew how very special a safari at a Porini Camp would be. Porini Mara was fabulous, we... More

A return trip within a month of my last - speaks for itself. Could not believe the amount of game that was everywhere. Don't know why March is the low season. Plains game with calves all over the place and it seems that the Wildebeest from the Loita Plains have taken up residence here. This is the most intimate of... More

It's really hard to choose from all the different companies that arrange safaris in mara. "What do you want?" is the first question you have to ask yourself... Our answer was this: Safety and comfort. Nature experience that doesn't affect, in a negative way, the people that are living there. Safari in a open car. Good guides. Porini Mara camp... More

From the moment we booked through Gamewatchers we couldn't fault the attention paid to our safari. Steve was great in assuring us about our personal safety. Bill and Simon our guide and driver were great. We didn't appreciate the difference between the park and the conservancy, the animals were prolific in the conservancy, within 24 hrs we had seen 30... If Ernest Hemingway were alive and taking safaris today, he would not be able to shoot things, but he would definitely want to stay here. This is a manly place staffed by kindly but "could-be" fierce Maasai guys. They offer much comfort as they escort you back to the tent after dinner in the honking and screeching wilderness. One just... More

I had a fantastic time at Porini Mara camp two weeks ago. Everything was truly perfect, especially the food! The only thing I would have liked was for some other guests to be there with me! Don't get me wrong; one-on-one attention is great, but the meals and game drives would have been a bit more lively with some additional... More
