My first visit to Fig Tree was amazing,we saw most of the animals living in the maasai mara except for the leopard and rhino, On my second visit we saw everything, 2 leopards in fact, what amazing animals they are. The Rhino was a bit more illusive but thanks to our driver Peter and Maasai guide William we finally caught... More

Fig Tree has a great location on the banks of the Talek River near the Talek gate to Masai Mara National Reserve. It is an ideal location for the exploring different parts of the Mara, and is a beautiful spot. The grounds are well-landscaped and extremely attractive. We stayed in two cottages (instead of tents) and found them to be... More

The hotel does not answer the e-mails. E-mails to central reservation office are ignored as well. It is also impossible to reach the hotel through the telephone lines mentioned on the Internet site. Rooms very shabby and dark. Not all amenities are functioning. No anti repellent provided. I have never seen so tired and old towels - their colour is... More

We were very pleased with the quality of the camp considering it is a budget accommodation. It is very traditional and popular with the French and Germans. Be aware though that the only animals you see around the camp are monkeys and birds, even though the tents are situated on top of the river, there is no wildlife there. When... More

I enjoyed this safari. We used to come here as children when we lived in Nairobi and so it brought back many memories. My tent was something out of a fairy tail. I was located near the river so I could sit on my veranda and watch birds. It was the rainy season so not many animals came to drink... More

I will start from the beginning......... We arranged the safari from the UK after seeing the Mada website and it looked beautiful. We met our driver and Edna who organised the safari at their hotel in Nairobi, the Oakwood Hotel if memory serves me right. The driver was really nice but Edna was more concerned about money and it had... More

Mixed reviews about Fig Tree but we thought it was the best part of our trip to Kenya. Booked through JT Safari. Tents were fab - we did not expect the 4 poster beds and a bathroom - it is a Safari! when the water was on it was roasting and it was timed around your safari trips - perfect!... More

My husband and I have just returned from the most amazing holiday ever. We stayed at Fig Tree Camp, and would thoroughly recommend it to anyone. The staff are very friendly, food was buffet with lots of choice. Rooms and public areas were spotlessly clean. Sitting outside our tent overlooking the Talek River was the most peaceful time I have... More

The first camp we visited during our safari and a really great one. Luxurious tents located beautifully next to the river. We spotted a lot of wildlife just sitting in front of our tent including baboons, warthog, impala, crocodile, a kingfisher and many other birds. Game around this camp was excellent during our stay. Food is buffet style and good,... More

Having read the previous reviews and The Fig Tree broucher, we decided to book and stay there for two nights. I would have to agree that the staff were very friendly and the safari and guide were again fantastic. But that's where it stops. Elephants and hippos drinking from the river or waterhole near the tents ( I think not)... More
