Our Kenya trip would not have been what is was without Saruni. Kenya is an amazing country thanks to the wildlife, people, topography... and the list goes on. Our family (kids 9 and 7) spent a total of 11 nights in Kenya, three of it at Saruni Wild and three at Samburu Saruni. And, true to their word, the safari/adventure... More

Saruni Wild is the 3-tents "subsidiary" of Saruni Mara lodge. I love this review because it comes from a family with relatively young kids: it shows how enhanced the experience is when the attitude is right and when we provide exactly what was expected. I like the reviewer's use of the term "surreal": and I like it because this is... More

We went there for our honeymoon and have not stayed in such a nice place before. The staff are incredibily friendly and nothing is too much trouble. The lodges are beautiful and set in a great location. The guide and tracker were extremely knowledgeable and they were very hospitable. They serve dinner around a long table with all the guests... Thank you for this very nice review and for taking the time to write it. I like it when our guest say "nothing was too much trouble". This is exactly what we work hard to provide: the feelign that not only the amazing Masai Mara will give you the sightings that you have been dreaming of, but that Saruni -... More

We visited Saruni as a couple in 2007 and loved it, vowing one day to return with our adult offspring. We generally have a rule 'never go back' as revisiting somewhere that you have loved is often disappointing a second time. But going back to Saruni felt like going to a favourite friend's house. We took our grown son and... More

Saruni is a masai word that means "the place of peace and tranquiiity" and I like this review because it explains this point. Thank you also for our guide William, a silver member of Kenya professional Safari Guides Association, for making this safari so memorable. Riccardo More

Having just got back from a wonderful trip to Kenya I can honestly say that our stay in Saruni couldn't have been better. we had a wedding and major birthday whilst at Saruni and the staff and guides couldn't have done more for us, going far beyond the call of duty! The food and accommodation were really excellent . The... More

I like this review because, from an independent point of view, makes the point that the wildlife inside the mara North Conservancy - where Saruni is located - is as good as the one inside the Masai mara National Reserve, even during the "migration months" of July/August.September/October. The Mara North Conservancy is an amazing experiment in modern and community-friendly conservation... More

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
Saruni is a small, luxury lodge in Mara North Conservancy, the best wildlife area in the Masai mara ecosystem. We have one family villa and 5 cottages. Our masai guides are among the best in Kenya and to discover the amazing wildlife of the Mara with them is an unforgettable experience. In July 2012 Saruni Mara opened the doors of a brand new family villa and completed the refurbishment of its existing villa’s in to six beautifully designed, themed rooms. The stylish new villa has two en-suite bedrooms and a large lounge complete with dinning area and comfortable sofa’s sounding the welcoming fireplace. There is also an impressive large veranda overlooking the magnificent scenery of the Masai Mara. The remaining villas have been refurbished to incorporate themes that will engage with guests passions whether that is art, astronomy, photography, literature, natural history or simply romance. All furniture, carpets, lamps and bedding was either sourced locally in Nairobi or designed by Kenyan interior decorator Larissa Hoops and then made by local craftsmen. The Art room will inspire creative guests with an easel and paint as well as a desk with drawing materials. For star gazers, the Astronomy room has a vintage brass telescope, moon map and selection of interesting material on all things cosmic.Book worms and budding writers will enjoy staying in the Literature room with its vintage typewriter, leather reading chairs, desk with brass reading lamp, quill pen and leather blotter. There is also a selection of classic and African literature. For clients that prefer to view life through the lens, the Photography room has an old box browning camera, antique photographic equipment catalogue and stunning prints adorn the walls. The Family villa also doubles as the Natural History room and is decorated with a selection of antique and vintage prints. There is also relevant reading material such a books on mammals, reptiles, tree’s and birds. The Honeymoon room has been simply designed for a relaxing romantic break with comfy furniture and beautiful antiques.Saruni Mara is owned and run by Italian author Riccardo Orizio. This resort is the Masai Mara’s smallest permanent lodge and guests enjoy an exclusive experience with their own private vehicle and guide. Evenings can be spent relaxing in the common area enjoying fine cuisine influenced by Riccardo’s Italian family heritage. Guests can also enjoy bush breakfasts and dinners in breathtaking settings such as in the middle of an acacia forest. Saruni Mara is extremely active in local community and conservation projects and works very closely with the local Masai communities.
