It is not often you wake to the sound of lions killing a zebra outside your "tent", but anything is possible here. The tented accommodation is very comfortable, with en suite shower rooms. Food is good, service excellent. And that's before we get to the whole point of the visit - safari. Very knowledgeable guides, amazing sights. Should be on... More

I and my husband left Governors yesterday after having spent 4 days. What an amazing place! The service was faultless - and above all friendly and kind. I have never stayed in a place that provides hot water bottles before - and, it being Kenya, you can get a decent cup of tea (particularly welcome when brought to your tent... More

Our family of 6 had an absolutely incredible holiday, surpassing any dreams and expectations. Tracy and ALL the staff went far beyond the call of duty in terms of meals. Our needs were extremely complicated and yet we had 3 magnificent meals a day. We saw the most wonderous sitings of lion, hippo, cheatah, leopard, elephant, buffalo and much more.... More

Governor's Camp is one of the very best camps in the Mara. Their service is outstanding and the camp itself is absolutely breathtaking. Thanks to JT Safaris I have been able to stay at Governors Camp three times. JT Safaris has the best prices and service around!

We have now been to Governors Camp 4 times and it still lives up to past standards and therefore meets our expectations. As we are not there for game drives (we work for a charitable trust which supports schools and medical facilities in the Mara Rianda area and the camp is a convenient place to stay - and they kindly... Just back from a fantastic Mara session. Governor's undoubtably holds one of the premier spots in the Mara, especially as it lies smack in the middle of the Marsh Pride Lion territory. Half an hour to major crossing points. We visited as a three generation family of five, and as Kenyans in the hospitality industry, may have a slightly overly... More

We stayed here for two nights. An amazing experience. Our guide was Musa who seemed to have superman like vision for spotting game. The people here are fabulous, warm & generous with their time & knowledge. We have stayed at other lodges before & since & not encountered half the wildlife at such close range. If you want to reconnect... More

Everything about my 4 night/5 day stay here was wonderful. It was a dream come true and I cannot fault anything. We just got back from a 3 night stay at Governors' in Masai Mara. Very well managed property. The staff are excellent. Our driver Duncan is extraordinary! He is very experienced and knows the area very well. He goes above and beyond to show as many animals as possible. It is very clear he was passionate about what he does.... More

I had been longing to go on safari for many years and this surpassed my expectations. I spent 2 nights at Governors Loldia House (beautiful) before flying in...on the way from the airstrip into camp I saw 5 lions and countless other wildlife...they are literally on your doorstep. Finding the more elusive animals is a thrill, the serenity of watching... More

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
Governors' Camp nestles on the banks of the Mara River in the heart of the most prolific game viewing area of the Masai Mara. One of only a handful of camps located within the Masai Mara Game Reserve the setting is magical. Half of the tents overlook the rolling grasslands of Africa, with views of elephant, zebra and gazelle; the rest are tucked away in the forest lining the banks of the Mara River. ... more   less
