We spent 3 nights of our 7 day safari at the Mara hippo lodge.I worked out a good deal with the tour operator Ben . I then went back to the hotel to try and get a few more people to come along .One of our group checked on tripadvisor about the lodge and read the bad reviews.Rated 49 th... more

Got what i expected for been in a such remote place on this planet, ok the huts where poorly built ,but for the little time spent in them the hut was still a much better bargain than the 150$ U.S per night room at the "HILTON" i got in Nairobi! Nice little complex with bar and the food was great,... more

Of alle the lodges we stayed in this was BY FAR THE WORST. The place is poorly built, worn out and badly maintained. The huts are constructed in such a manner that you cannot see the beautifull surroundings, in fact it feels mostly like a european camping ground from the 80-ies. The toilet pot was no more than 40 centimetres... more

The name is mis-leading, the place is more of a tented camp than a lodge. I had a group of five, three adults, a teenager and a 9yr old, besides the accomodations, the service from the staff was way below standards, and not reflective of Kenya, compared to other places we stayed (we spent 4 weeks in Kenya). What was... more

I would like to start by saying we have travelled in Africa before and we have realistic expectations of accomodation in general. Staying here was the very worst accomodation experience ever! We arrived at the end of our first full day in Kenya following the long drive to the Mara from Nairobi and a late afternoon game drive, to find... more

This lodge is definitely only for the budget traveler. The grounds are poorly kept, tents are in poor condition and dirty, and the food is average at best. There was no land line for phones so they could not take credit cards. Our group stayed in 5 lodges during our safari through Kenya and this one in no way compared... more

We had been booked here for 2 nights by a safari operator having been moved from the David Livingstone for over booking. The accommodation we booked was not what we got. We got a makeshift tent, Not enough beds and given towels for pillows. No electric and the toile was broken and the windows in the bathroom were broken. It became... more

I stayed here in early July and I thought that oit should only deserve one star! We were here for 3 nights and for me it was too much. The scenary and setting on the 'camp' is berautiful and that cannot be faulted but the rooms are a different story. From the outside they look like nice cottages but once... more

I have just come from a holiday on the Kenyan coast. During our week there, we went on a two day safari to the Masai Marai and spent one night in the Mara Hippo Safari Lodge. The lodge premises are fantastic with really beautiful landscaped gardens and a swimming pool. We stayed in a brick cottage which was very clean... more
