Began our safari here and were concerned as the food was very poor and we had 7 nights planned in Sopa lodges. Fortunately, the food at Sopa Serengeti and Sopa Ngorongoro was much better. The lodge itself is fine, its more of a management issue. There's limited hours for electricity and hot water. There's no internet. I don't expect much... More

Mixed bag with this one. You are inside the Masai Mara reserve, but only just - so whilst it's only a short drive to see the wildlife, there are other lodges further into the reserve and it's a full day drive (there and back) to see e.g. the Mara river crossings during the migrations and if you stay near to... We stayed at the Mara Sopa for 2 nights in July 2010. The first thing that strikes you is the architecture and the location. The driver will probably point out the conical brown roofs peeking out among the lush greenery of the hillside. And you are sure to catch some dik-diks and guinea fowl enroute to the lodge, which is... More

The Mara Sopa Lodge is perfectly situated minutes from the entrance to the park. This made it extremely easy for the early morning and evening game drives. The food was good and the staff was very friendly and hospitable. At night, they have security officers patrolling the guest room paths and escorting you if needed. As two women traveling alone,... The Sopa Lodge is a good place to tour the Masai Mara. The lodge are is well kept and the rooms located in two-room huts. Rooms were nice and clean. The common areas were nice. My worst complaint is the non-existing sound isolation between rooms. Luckily I had discovered the problem in Tripadviser reviews before the trip so I was... More

Quite a decent place. Staff is decent. Not overly helpful, but OK. The front desk staff is lax at times, like when they made us lose time fetching the luggage from the rooms, even though they had been notified 45 mins before. We had to make repeated requests to them before we got our luggage. Food is OK'ish. The restaurant... More

We've been there as a last 2 nights on a safari trip. Great place, wonderful people, absolutely kind and friendly. Is true there is a water and electricity schedule, but everyone can undersatnd there is Africa, midle of savana. I would recomend the safari to everybody. If go there with Thomas Cook/ Neckermann, ask to have as guide/ driver Gilbert... More

The Mara Sopa lodge was our place to rest for 2 nights during a week of safari. We found this a great place to be: beautiful environment, great restaurant, bar with regular Masai shows, the rooms are large and clean. It's true, you don't have electricity 24h/day... but I really don't undrestand why this would bother anyone. The lodge is... More

Two nights in the Mara Sopa Lodge was not enough! We were on safari with Pollmans Tours and the Masai Mara was the first park on our tour. The lodge itself is beautifully positioned with great views across the valley and extremely close to the park entrance. The Masai plains are a very short drive away! The rooms all have... More

I loved this hotel. The king size bed was incredible. The food was also amazing with perch from the nile, and lamb with mint sauce. We loved the fire at night, and excitedly watched the hyena feeding (where we also seen an angry moongoose and a gold bat) All in all a great place, and would have loved to have... More
