Two nights in the Mara Sopa Lodge was not enough! We were on safari with Pollmans Tours and the Masai Mara was the first park on our tour. The lodge itself is beautifully positioned with great views across the valley and extremely close to the park entrance. The Masai plains are a very short drive away! The rooms all have... more

I loved this hotel. The king size bed was incredible. The food was also amazing with perch from the nile, and lamb with mint sauce. We loved the fire at night, and excitedly watched the hyena feeding (where we also seen an angry moongoose and a gold bat) All in all a great place, and would have loved to have... more

We stayed at the Mara Sopa for 3 nights October 2009. We'd already had 1 week of safari in various locations and this was the biggest lodge we'd stayed in, so maybe this has influenced our experience at the Mara Sopa a bit. The lodge is comfortable with big rooms and bathrooms, with two separate accommodations sharing one cottage. As... more

The lodge is lovely, with a spectacular bar area with a log fire in the evenings and an equally impressive dining room, decorated with Masai paintings on the walls. The rooms were round huts split into two rooms. They looked great, were a good size and the bathroom was nice with a good shower. It’s worth noting that electricity and... more

Had the opportunity to stay at this resort in September 2009 for two nights. A big shout out to Josephatt, the deputy manager, who made the stay truly special. Free room upgrades, complimentary drinks and wine and of course spending the evenings with us (along with a Masai naturalist). I had planned to come back to some posh open tented... more

Good service, decent food, and nice rooms. Although really, the thing that matters on a trip to the Mara is your guide. But this is definitely a nice place to stay. They have a "wild hyena feeding" once a night, which is kind of interesting but also a little odd. A domestic cat stole some fo the food from the... more

I agree with the positive reviews here. Need to emphasize the amazing staff at this lodge. Just one example: when we ran into a tough problem, Josephat, the night manager left his supper to solve it instantly. This was typical of every staff member. Highest recommendation! more

Couldn't have asked for a better lodge. The food was excellent with a wide variety to suit every taste. The staff are attentive. Being inside the Masai mara only 5 minutes to see the wild animals. We manged 4 of the big 5 on the first safari. A marvellous start to our holiday more

We were a group of 4 families (with children) stayed at the Mara Sopa Lodge for 2 nights and thoroughly enjoyed it. Very hospitable people and they serve good food (continental,Indian, swahili etc) .The rooms were comfortable (specially the beds). The zebras come grazing almost to the doorstep in the evenings which is a unique experience. more

Wow! Absolutely my favourite Sopa of the three we stayed in (Amboseli and Lake Naivasha being the others). An absolutely fabulous location high up in the hills, but within the Masai Mara Reserve) with absolutely stunning views from the pool and the restaurant. We had a large room (2 double beds) which were surrounded by a mosquito net curtain and... more
