I was really disappointed when we got to this hotel. First of all, the staff are running out to get your suitcases. They take one item each, and expect to get paid - all of them. We started carrying our own suitcases instead. The check-in was ok, but the staff were not too friendly and welcoming as in the other... More

The only nice thing I can say is that the massive buffets were not bad.the rooms are awful. Cold sterile, huge and seemingly decorated in 1970s and never changed. No wifi in rooms and only in main hotel after 4pm. Hot water restrictions too. Service also very average. Really did not like this hotel. But it is close to the... More

Of the three Sopa lodges we stayed in this one was the most basic - small rooms, very thin walls and could hear everything in next door room. Adequate though for a couple of nights. Power and hot water limited. Internet available in lounge - when the power is on. No tea and coffee making facilities so take your travel... More

No trip to Africa is complete without a visit to a game park and the Maasi Mara is one of Africa's best! If you need a place to stay when coming to the Mara, I cannot recommend more highly the Mara Sopa located in the park. Staff by the Maasi people, it is an inviting, relaxing setting after a long... The most useless place to be in. the staff were rude to us and it took us 1 hour to get through the main gate. well I think the sopa group need to pull up their socks. Went to Nakuru sopa as well and found steel wool in their food. Complained to them via email n they never responded. I... More

Mara Sopa Lodge is a very nice lodge with a great ambience. The food is good and plenty and the staff is friendly and helpsome. The area around Sopa has some very good wildlife. We saw both lions, cheetahs and elephants and many other animals in the areas. Even the black rhino was sighted within an hours drive from the... More

I read all the recent reviews of Sopa before departing. Sopa far exceeded expectations. It is well designed, beautiful property that is well maintained. Food was served from a menu for dinner and a hot/cold buffet for breakfast. Meat cuts were as described in the menu. Sauces and flavors were excellent, vegetables were steamed crisp and never overcooked. Drinks were... More

Mara Sopa is a great and comfortable place when visiting the Mara on safari. The rooms are spacious and clean, the staff friendly and the food is excellent. Only 4 stars because I was really looking forward to spending some time in the pool, which was closed the entire time we were there.

Don't expect 5 star luxury hotel, it is a lodge in the middle of the Masai Mara. We loved it. Great character. As it's in the middle of MM there are limit / restrictions on things like- hot water/electricity. Which is to be expected when you're on Safari. The lodges are charming and within pretty gardened grounds with the view... More
