What a wonderful time we had at the Mara Sopa Lodge! We spent 3 nights there. The lodge is set within the Masai Mara National Park and offers wonderful settings. The views are breathtaking and the gardens wonderfully lush. The common lounge is warm and cosy, with a big fireplace, which is lit every night. The bar offers plenty of... More

Beautiful to look at: a great variety of blooming bougainvilleas, lots of lovely monkeys willing to pose for your camera only to steal something off your table a moment later, nice African style huts make it a relaxing place to stay. Only a very poor set menu does not fit this most enjoyable place.

The man at the reception was so impolite, we told him to apologize but he was just laughing. Food at the restaurant was not cooked(raw meet...) and not clean(cabbages with insect eggs...).Safety box at our room was broken, and we told the staffs to check but did not come. I will never come back to this lodge.

The Sopa lodge as commonly known is on the slopes of a hill.Located very close to Ololaimutia Gate and easily. The staff and the rooms are good and hospitable. They orovide free WIFI and the power is switched off at time in the night. It is a safe place and the game viewing is a few kilometres drive.

We stayed a couple of nights here like most tourists, the hotel had a nice ambiance to it but rooms were a bit dated. The showers were not that great, which were much needed after a long safari, food was good. It was good to hang around the bar area in the evenings, with a Masai dance on one night... More

I was really disappointed when we got to this hotel. First of all, the staff are running out to get your suitcases. They take one item each, and expect to get paid - all of them. We started carrying our own suitcases instead. The check-in was ok, but the staff were not too friendly and welcoming as in the other... More

The only nice thing I can say is that the massive buffets were not bad.the rooms are awful. Cold sterile, huge and seemingly decorated in 1970s and never changed. No wifi in rooms and only in main hotel after 4pm. Hot water restrictions too. Service also very average. Really did not like this hotel. But it is close to the... More

Of the three Sopa lodges we stayed in this one was the most basic - small rooms, very thin walls and could hear everything in next door room. Adequate though for a couple of nights. Power and hot water limited. Internet available in lounge - when the power is on. No tea and coffee making facilities so take your travel... More

No trip to Africa is complete without a visit to a game park and the Maasi Mara is one of Africa's best! If you need a place to stay when coming to the Mara, I cannot recommend more highly the Mara Sopa located in the park. Staff by the Maasi people, it is an inviting, relaxing setting after a long... The most useless place to be in. the staff were rude to us and it took us 1 hour to get through the main gate. well I think the sopa group need to pull up their socks. Went to Nakuru sopa as well and found steel wool in their food. Complained to them via email n they never responded. I... More
