We recently stayed at Encounter Mara for the second time. While we enjoyed our first visit, this little camp has really come along in the past 16 months. The tents are very comfortable and hardly qualify as camping. Flush toilets and hot showers are part of the experience. The food is some of the best that we have enjoyed in... More

After seven safaris in Kenya, Encounter Mara is my favorite camp. Biggest difference to many other safari camps was their daily schedule. Day starts with real breakfast at 5.30 am (many camps only give you tea/coffee and cookies) and morning drive continues all the way to 10 am (instead of 9 am). At 10 am, you have small brunch and... From day one the experience was phenomenal. Our guide Dickson was personable, knowledgeable, adventurous, each day seaching endlessly each day to find yet another elusive animal we had yet not encountered, needless to say we saw them all. By the end of the 5 days Dickson had become a true friend! The camps staff and executive's we met went above... More

Encounter Mara is hands down the best way to experience the Masai Mara. Their facilities are top notch when it comes to comfort and luxury. You're staying in a tent in the middle of the African bush, but it feels like you're staying in a 5 star hotel! Their guides are incredibly well trained and knowledgeable. They know the science... Our stay at Encounter Mara was everything we could have hoped for - great food, excellent accommodations, and soooo many animals! The guides (Dickson and Dickson Jr.) were super and our hosts (Colin and Charla) were outstanding!

We had the BEST time in our too- short stay here! Each of the four of us adults, and each of the kids age 5-15, felt the same way - we loved it! The eco/sustainability focus was very important to us, as was the social and economic support and inclusion of the Masai people whose land this is. The tents... More

I had the good fortune to visit the Encounter Mara Naboisho Conservancy December 2014. Everything from start to finish was perfect. My game drive guides, Sammy, Joel, and Dickson (elder) were intelligent, delightful and entertaining and thinking of them brings a heartfelt smile. In the first minutes of the first game drive, we parked a few feet away from a... More

We were a group of 4 adults and 3 kids (including one 5-year-old) and we could not have had a more positive experience than Encounter Mara. We live in Nairobi and have done several trips -- but it's different at Encounter. The animals look healthy (chubby lion cubs!), the camp looks as if it could be rolled up and put... More

My family and I had such an amazing time at Encounter Mara Safari Camp that I seriously was trying very hard to think of anything I would recommend that they change or anything they could do to improve - never did. It was so amazing, the facilities are so comfortable, the staff is great, the guides are amazing, the animals... More

This was our third Mara experience, our first time at Encounter, and we thoroughly enjoyed it. Encounter is a true tented camp; every structure is a tent, unlike some others with 'brick and mortar' restaurants and lounge areas. The tents are very nice with indoor plumbing and a very nice layout. There is no fence at all around the property.... More
