Simple and functional tented camp, with a nice and typical common area where you can meet other travellers. Good meals with buffet, nice staff people. Good position to visit Masai Mara reserve, because the camp is into the reserve, near a river. You can hear the noise of hippos during the night.

We stayed in Kichakani bang in the middle of migration season in August 2013. The camp is quite basic but we enjoyed the stay. Pros: Tents are comfortable Close to the Mara action Close to ballooning starting points Decent food Cons: Service was a let-down No water pressure in the shower and no hot water Overall, decent place to stay... This was real cool BUDGET place to stay with flush toilet, running water, basic tent with beds and mosquito nets + Swimming pool. We enjoyed the pool. Was not very clean but ok. The food was basic but the guys were very freindly and helpful. There was a great thrill as we heard lots of animal sound in the night.... More

We stayed in the camp in August this year, the location was amazing-very close to animals you can infant hear them at night! The staff are really nice and the food is ok but the tents are not that great. Ours was quite dirty-bathroom was really dirty and shower was a trickle with no light. There is a swimming pool... More

The camp is really close to the park with great staff. Incredibly friendly. The food is below standard, sometimes cold. The tents are good but with the electricity only on for 2 hours in the morning and evening the place can look a little dreary. The swimming pool needs to be treated as it was very dirty although we weren't... More

My friend and I booked this camp through Silver Bird Travel Agency. At the end, we don’t know if the thieves were only the people at the camp, or if the travel agency was involved, but I’ll share my story: The game drive was organized by the camp and the ride itself was OK, we had a good driver (Simon)... We are a family of three from Sydney, Australia and spent three nights at Kichakani mid December. We received a very warm welcome arriving by all the excellent and very friendly staff - Yobes, the manager with JJ and Dominic. The environment around the camp is very beautiful, we saw baboons around the river and lots of birds. My friends and I spent 3 nights at Kichakani in mid October. We were initially quite alarmed as we were the only ones staying there and started to wonder why our travel agent had booked us here?? Apparently though we were at the end of the season. Having said that the place was clean and comfortable and had everything we... More

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
Innovatively conceived spectacularly on the edge of the expansive Masai Mara Game Reserve, Kichakani Camp a simple but classic camp nestled amidst the big figs of the Mara. It offers a panorama of the Burrungat and Posee plains on its sides. The camp is conveniently located on the banks of the Talek River, just next to a major wildebeest crossing point. With the river as the only physical boundary between the park and the camp, it offers excellent game viewing. The camp décor and architecture is intentionally simplistic in nature, with semi-permanent grass thatched bandas fitted with tents – flash toilets and hot shower bathrooms en-suite – and a deck for outdoor sitting. The food is a fusion of African and International cuisines prepared and presented in a unique African style. Kichakani Camp does not miss to capture the romance of safari life. ... more   less
