Let's face it, when you tick off something on your 'bucket list', you need to feel a sense of satisfaction and believe that you've achieved some sort of lifetime goal, something extraordinary, something unforgettable. Well, our 'bucket list' has just become shorter but our memory banks have been enriched in a way that we never would have believed possible. Mara... More

Mara Plains was a piece of heaven. Thanks to Lorna, Richard, Amy and Shaun, my stay at Mara Plains couldnt have been nicer. They bent over backwards to accommodate your every need. The staff were all very professional. The food was excellent. My guide, Kevin, went out of his way to find wildlife which was numerous. If you want to... More

After weeks of researching where to have our annual safari splurge we decided upon Mara Plains and I can safely say it was absolutely the right decision. 1. Wildlife. For me, the variety and abundance of wildlife is paramount when choosing a camp. In this regard Mara Plains really was quite extraordinary, we spent countless hours in the presence of... More

Firstly the wildlife: on almost all of our fun, fact and food filled game drives with Daniel we saw all three of the big cats. These were no mere glimpses either we had the pleasure of spending hours at a time gawping over the beauty of the affectionately named cheetah 'Mr Handsome/Osidea', watching lions on a kill and following the... Not only is Mara Plains located in one of the best wildlife viewing areas in the WORLD, with flexibility to night drive and walk and off road (we saw everything and more) the conservancy land is owned by the local Masai people who are the beneficiaries of the conservation fees paid. Win Win for both the wildlife and the communities.... More

Mara Plains is in a private conservancy, meaning minimal vehicles, and off roading and night drives are allowed. This is a huge benefit and not to be taken lightly. The camps decor was stunning and the food was awesome. Most important on any safari experience is the guide, and Duncan, our guide, was top notch. He was so familiar with... More

This place is heaven!! Located on a conservancy with few other camps, you will feel like you have the plains all to yourself. Upon arriving at the camp, we were greeted by the lovely Lorna and Richard, then taken to our splendid tents to settle in and soak in every perfect detail of the entire camp. We shared tent #7,... This trip was a year in the planning and as each month passed prior to going, the expectation level rose. There is always a little trepidation about what you hope for and what you receive. Well what we received at the Mara Plains so surpassed my expectations I'm surprised I didn't catch bugs in my continuously opened in amazement mouth.... More

This place is great. The setting is incredible and accommodations superb! However, when you pay these prices, that is exactly what you expect. It's the extras and incredible service that set them apart. The guides first and foremost! Our guide was Kevin and he was magnificent. A very special understanding of the area, terrain and most of all the animals.... More

We recently returned from a fabulous trip to 5 locations in Kenya and Tanzania. Masai Mara is a must stop, and Mara Plains should be carefully considered in your choices about where to stay. Over the top service. On the outrageous side, they hand you about $4k worth of camera equipment, and a $2k pair of binocs. We evaluated all... More
