We´ve just returned from a 4 day stay in the guest house and we really fell in love with the place and the staff! The guesthouse is about 2 meters away form the seafront and about 100 meters from the 12-km long beach. We had the toproofsuite, which was as excellent choice: it was very spacious with 2 nice and... We really enjoyed our meals at Shela Bahari Guest House. The price was very fair. The tuna was delicious as well as the seafood pasta. They also have an awesome and refreshing mocha milkshake! Wish we could visit there more often!

The location of the Bahari Guest House and the view are truly phenomenal. During high season therefore, the price is steep for the quality of the hotel room. A Bahari room would average around USD 60 in other locations, yet the price is double during high season in Lamu. With better management and a few changes in terms of cleanliness... More

The location, views and staff were great, but the hotel itself looked very tired, and as is common in africa, maintenance didn't seem important to management. We had the whole top floor, which was lovely, but the shower continually blocked up, and the toilet didn't flush, and we had to specifically ask for the toilet seat to be changed (it... More

Greeted on arrival with smiles. Due to us visiting in low season we were the only guests so made it more special for us. Good clean rooms and comfy bed. My only criticism was that the rooms were not swept each day so became sandy from our trips quickly. Other than that, great breakfast (fruity pancakes are to die for),... More

I stayed at Bahari for five nights and I can't wait to return, hopefully with family or friends so I can share it with them! Bahari must have the best views on Lamu, I felt like I was in paradise. I was a little worried as I was on my own but the staff looked after me so well- thank... More

It wasn't awful or even bad. The location is fabulous and the staff were very friendly and helpful. We took the upstairs suite with breathtaking views, but we felt that a little additional effort could have made a huge difference. I know it's budget, but holes in the mozzie nets and stained kikoi tacked up as curtains in the bathroom...... More

We stayed at Shella Bahari in the beginning of September this year and we had a very great time. The rooms are clean and comfortable, the staff is so so friendly and the owner very helpful. Breakfast is great and the food that is served in the restaurant downstairs is delicious. No matter if you want to interact with the... More

Honesty ... I don't know what some of the previous previewers expect when they leave their comfort zone. This is not a 4 star hotel, and doesn't pretend to be, nor does it charge as such. Instead, it is a wonderful, comfortable, atmospheric small place in the most perfect position imaginable. If you need every little comfort in pristine condition,... More

We were moved from our room twice. The 1st room appeared to be without power, but who knows? The electrical wiring was so haphazard as to seem potentially deadly. Mosquito netting had visible holes. The bedding and tablecloth had visible stains. No water provided at a hotel catering to guests who *can't* drink the water. Windows dirty, cracked. Bathroom door... More
