Jambo House is amazing value for money. Sure the room is quite basic but the welcome is five star. Arnold the owner is a passionate traveller himself and knows exactly what you need to know. He'll provide you tonnes of information on anything you want to do and organise trips at a very reasonable price. The breakfast was excellent too... More

I have stayed in rock bottom guesthouses and expensive hotels but Jambo House has provided the best service ever. I was received at the mainland (arrived with bus) which saved me a lot of hassle from eager 'beach boys' who were hoping to get provision if they could find me a hotel to a very thorough lesson by owner Arnold... If you wish to know in deep Lamu and its fascinating narrow streets, Jambo House is definitely the place! For restaurants and activities I warmly suggest you to follow the advise of Arnold (the owner) that is really a passioned person. Among the other, the hike with Zion "the rastaman" to a small village and the boat trip to Mandatotto... More

Jambo House is a great place to stay and proprietor Arnold is a great source of information! Nice breakfast served by Adam, who is ever so friendly! Rooms are comfy with good mosquito nets, beta toilet and cold water shower! WIFI is fast for Kenyan standards.

If you ever travel back in time and end up on a small desert island in Africa which is a very unlikely cocktail of Arabic, Indian and African cultures that would most likely to be Lamu. And on that island if you need an oasis and that would be Jambohouse without a doubt. Meticulously managed by Arnold the German athlete... More

I'll start from the top: breakfast was amazing. Far better than we thought we were going to get based on the "budget traveler" price we were paying for the room; breakfast was the first obvious sign to us that this was very well-run by a European. Both Adam & Arnold had great attitudes so early in the morning and were... More

Dear outwest15, asante sana for staying at JamboHouse Lamu and your review. A good breakfast is always a good start into the new day and I think we have a good selection of different options with fresh juice, fruits, different styles of eggs or even cereals. And we are always open for suggestions from our guests (special pancake). Since more... More

If the low price weren't enough, JamboHouse's other features make it a great place to stay. It's location, Arnold's and Adam's welcoming attitudes, and the invaluable advice they provide make it the best value and experience in Lamu Town. What I liked: -- Price! What you get for the price is, well, a steal. -- Breakfast! It's included, and filling... More

Thanks a lot for this informative review. There's not much to add, only that we don't have rooms with shared bathrooms. We have three self-contained rooms and two rooms with private bathroom (not shared!) outside the room via the corridor. These two bathrooms are only for these two rooms and guests can lock their bathroom. Otherwise, about the hammock, I... More

I spent seven fantastic days at JamboHouse. The guesthouse is nicely located in the center of Lamu Town from where you can easily explore the city on foot. The service at JamboHouse was excellent. Arnold, the owner, provided tips and need-to-know information on everything in Lamu. He was very helpful with arranging trips in Lamu town, around the island to... More
