Among the various hotels in Nairobi, I think The Heron is the best value for money. It's a cool, safe and well decorated place, very functionnal, with access to Internet in every room. Nice restaurant (although it was better before). more

I stayed here at the start of a 3 week safari trip booked with a group. Rather than staying in the actual hotel we were placed in a building out the back which resembled old staff quarters. It was the work accommodation I have ever stayed in. The room was very old and dirty, the bathrooms unclean. there was no... more

Our safari started at Heron Hotel which ment that the room was pre-booked by the tour operator. The hotel room was clean and featured nothing more and nothing less than one could expect from a hotel of this standard. Ofcourse it had a mosquitonet. As many people have written about this hotel the walls are very thin and you can... more

The Heron Hotel was the departure point for our Safari-tour through Kenia -Tanzania and it was included in the excursion. We stayed two nights,at the begining and at the end of the tour. The staff at the reception were very friendly and the check in quickly. They gave us a Standard room at the second floor. We had to go upstairs passing through... more

A good, clean (like CLEAN), comfortable and friendly hotel a short walk from Nairobi city centre. Rooms are recently redecorated and equipped to an average level for an international hotel (ie TV, cable, free internet access - I'm posting this from my room). Reasonable resturant for this price bracket - I strongly recommend the fillet steak (two large pieces for... more

I was visiting Nairobi with colleagues and had been booked into Ngonghills hotel. Believe me you really would not want to stay there. The Heron Hotel was at least ten times better than that. There was still some building work going on but this did not start too early nor carry on too late, My room was completely adequate, bed... more

I stayed at this hotel for a business trip of 2 weeks. Reconstruction Heron Hotel is still undergoing construction. They plan to be finished in November 2008 with the middle block. After this, they plan to reconstruct the last block. The middle block will have spacious rooms with kitchenette. But beware: at least the lowest 3 floors of these luxury... more

The Heron was my home for about two weeks during a recent business trip to Nairobi and I found it to be a good value and a solid choice. If you've never been to Africa, you'll need to pack some patience, because nothing is ever as easy as it is at home. So first, the peeves. They give you one... more

The Heron is undergoing renovations, which (on the postive side) meant that we got a nice room, about on par with say a Hampton Inn, for about the same price ($115), with about the same decor. Although the room didn't have AC, it had a large tiled shower with great water pressure and hot water, which was very welcome after... more
