This is one of the best places to stay in Nairobi - great staff, good food and restaurant service, clean rooms, homey ambience, fruit/chocolate platter delivered daily in the room, bedside weather forecast at night, sufficient gym/spa facility.. The hotel is just across the cultural center and close to Nairobi National Museum. The staff gave me directions to the museum... More

I stayed at this hotel last August when I was transiting between Kenya and South Africa and had a lovely time. Ditto this time around, though unfortunately I only had one night there. The rooms are a nice size and well-outfitted with amenities. The grounds are well manicured and the location in the heart of town very conveneient. We also... More

Grand entrance, then onto a green and trimmed garden with palm trees, immediately giving you a good vibe. My room was located across from the garden and it was simply beautiful, including a little nook by the window, desk, couch, local art. Very friendly staff, housekeeping twice a day, a note on your bed with weather forecasts for the next... More

I hate writing anything negative about the Norfolk in Nairobi. I used to stay here regularly in the 1980s and was really looking forward to my stay here. It has always been my favorite hotel in Africa and I've sent so many people to stay there! The Norfolk is now a Fairmont, and has been extensively renovated. The fantastic terrace... More

A bit disappointed that the quoted rate was exclusive of Kenya taxes of 29%. This made a big difference to the total charges. The bar was pleasant and drinks prices reasonable. Breakfast buffet price steep, and only on the second query were we offered a cheaper rate (about $US10pp) for coffee and pastries alone. Room was nice, and wifi included... More

This was my second visit to the Norfolk (first being in 2004), and the improvements are palpable and readily evident. The hotel has gotten a beautiful makeover. They have added a 5 star restaurant "Tatu", which is phenomenal and worth every penny for a culinary experience of a lifetime. The chef is extraordinary and the restaurant boasts a great wine... The taxi driver ( British guy) who mey Viewbaron and his wife at the airport insisted the fairmont was one of the best hotels in Nairobi.....and I couldn't find anything to disagree. The foyer is rather grand- Viewbaron overheard a business meeting, where some gentleman were talking over the intricacies of put options ( lovely stuff ), however I digress.... More

We stayed here three times over three weeks as we came in and out of Nairobi during our safari segments. We saw consistency over the three visits in room quality, staff responsiveness, and food. All very good. And that buffet breakfast was outstanding. It is a classy place with a lot of history.

Our stays were very pleasant, with nice accommodations, wonderful breakfast buffet, and very helpful staff. Our room, on our first stay, had a strong smell of newly painted rooms but that had lessened by the time of our return. It was quite disconcerting to realize there was an armed guard at the entrance, as well as having to submit to... More

Beautiful hotel with an air of elegance and past colonial grandeur. Breakfast spread amazing array of food. Staff very helpful and courteous although had to ask for service in the bar during cocktail hour. Rooms very spacious although beware of rooms in wing on left hand side of hotel. They back onto a service lane that was used by people... More
