I was there with a group of people who were spread over the entire hotel. If you are lucky enough to be in the remodeled rooms you will have a nice stay. I unfortunately was in the older rooms, 400 section. Bathroom and room very dated. Stains on carpet and shower very dirty. Food at the property very good, especially... More

Several mosquitos in room. Windows tightly closed. Still these pesticides keep appearing and flying around for second night. Dirty bathroom, stains on floors and bedlinen and a sticky carpet. Not quite what to expect from a "Fairmont". Not so fun time spraying around repellent to keep mosquitos away. Nairobi is nice but in some other place.

Stayed for one night in August on room and breakfast basis. Told the receptionist we had to leave very early the next morning. There was no offer of an early or packed breakfast although she vaguely mentioned there might be tea and coffee in the reception area (there wasn't). Room was lovely although no tea! My meal in the Terrace... More

My husband had an abscessed tooth when we arrived in Nairobi at 5:30 AM. After retrieving our luggage and a frightful drive to the Fairmont Norfolk Hotel, we checked in at the President's Club desk with the assistance of George Keli, who immediately took charge, calling the doctor on-call, and arranging an appointment with a dental professor at Nairobi Hospital.... Service seems well intentioned, but slow and often incorrect (green tea, please, not black tea). Bathrooms are dated, decor is tired. Spa is NOT up to Fairmont standards (broken sauna controls, many treatments unavailable, terrible massage, no attendants in sight). Tatu restaurant is good, not great - and extremely expensive. Breakfast buffet is forgettable, open air to dirty Nairobi streets.... More

We have been to this hotel on several trips. The grounds continue to be lovely, the bar area is friendly, the pool area is very good. There are two types of rooms and when we get a king size room it is very comfortable, Many of their rooms have living rooms downstairs and bedroom loft up - these rooms feel... More

The Norfolk may not be what it was in colonial times but this is only a problem for the folks who visited then. It is absolutely delightful. The staff is excellent at every turn and always available and eager to help. The setting is beautiful once you enter and our room was very comfortable with none of the problems encountered... More

I loved this hotel. Elegant but not too fancy, nice sense of history, beautiful rooms, really nice staff. Wonderful restaurant. The only things I didn't like were the slightly byzantine internet process and the excessive cost for laundry.

Apart from the location I have to say this is Nairobis best property.

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
Fairmont The Norfolk Hotel has played a leading role in Kenya's colorful history, and continues to be the best-known luxury hotel in Nairobi. The town and later the modern city of Nairobi grew up around Fairmont The Norfolk hotel, which still has its own private tropical gardens. The hotel is still the traditional starting point for safaris and the Lord Delamere Terrace is modern Nairobi's popular meeting place, where drinks and light meals are served continuously from morning till late evening.Fairmont The Norfolk was expanded in 1999 and subsequently renovated in time for its centennial celebrations in 2004. The Delamere & Acacia Wing were refurbished in 2012 to give the rooms a modern touch, whilst preserving their charm and unique personality. The Nairobi hotel now offers accommodations in 170 guest rooms and suites, has eight conference rooms, the largest seating 175 delegates, a heated outdoor swimming pool, health club with gym, sauna and steam room and gift shops. ... more   less
