We have been to this hotel on several trips. The grounds continue to be lovely, the bar area is friendly, the pool area is very good. There are two types of rooms and when we get a king size room it is very comfortable, Many of their rooms have living rooms downstairs and bedroom loft up - these rooms feel... More

The Norfolk may not be what it was in colonial times but this is only a problem for the folks who visited then. It is absolutely delightful. The staff is excellent at every turn and always available and eager to help. The setting is beautiful once you enter and our room was very comfortable with none of the problems encountered... More

I loved this hotel. Elegant but not too fancy, nice sense of history, beautiful rooms, really nice staff. Wonderful restaurant. The only things I didn't like were the slightly byzantine internet process and the excessive cost for laundry.

I stayed at the Norfolk for one night last month as I was leaving Kenya for S. Africa. It was nice, which one would expect from a hotel for that price. The gardens are lovely and the room spacious and overlooking all the green. Had a nice drink in the bar before dinner and ate at their super-expensive restaurant. Had... More

We chose to stay here on the tail end of our trip. The hotel is nice, spacious and has a good restaurant - Tatu. The only issue is the service. It's very hard to get the front desk. We tried all day without luck. They are good when you can get a hold of them, though. The hotel also has... More

Stayed there overnight waiting for my flight to onward destination. Got myself upgraded to a 1-bedroom suite for a reasonable charge. Fairmont Norfolk is supposed to be a 'legendary' property, but I was not in the least impressed - it was just another upscale hotel like the Sheratons, Hiltons, Hyatts etc., nothing special that I could see or experience. I... More

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
Fairmont The Norfolk Hotel has played a leading role in Kenya's colorful history, and continues to be the best-known luxury hotel in Nairobi. The town and later the modern city of Nairobi grew up around Fairmont The Norfolk hotel, which still has its own private tropical gardens. The hotel is still the traditional starting point for safaris and the Lord Delamere Terrace is modern Nairobi's popular meeting place, where drinks and light meals are served continuously from morning till late evening.Fairmont The Norfolk was expanded in 1999 and subsequently renovated in time for its centennial celebrations in 2004. The Delamere & Acacia Wing were refurbished in 2012 to give the rooms a modern touch, whilst preserving their charm and unique personality. The Nairobi hotel now offers accommodations in 170 guest rooms and suites, has eight conference rooms, the largest seating 175 delegates, a heated outdoor swimming pool, health club with gym, sauna and steam room and gift shops. ... more   less
