Stayed here for a couple of nights on a business trip. The hotel is beautiful with a Victorian feel to it. Rooms are spacious and very comfortable, staff is welcoming and extremely helpful. Of course it comes at a price - the worst of which is their taxi service, which seems to be a flat rate irrespective of where you... More

Everything is just perfect. But at a cost of course. But I would say a great introduction and beginning of any African experience. Reall, really great. The only thing is that the charge of Internet is too high considering what a customer pays for the room. Should be included. Otherwise as good as it gets.

I'm a great fan of the Norfolk and Fairmont hotels in general. The have great service, very nice hotels and all in great situations, the Norfolk is no exception, it's nicely designed and has a real old colonial feel BUT, I had breakfast there this morning with a colleague and the cost was what can only be described as astronomical!... Stayed here overnight on a safari trip. The hotel is a beautiful colonial structure with a peaceful garden. We arrived in the middle of night after a long flight. The staff were welcoming and available for help. The rooms are well-appointed and the bathrooms were luxurious. Most important the place was quiet and peaceful and allowed us to get some... More

Prior to the remodeling of the hotel, it had an enormous amount of character and charm. Sadly, the lobby, restaurants and bars now resemble any hotel n the USA that is trying to capture the modern/disco era with its red lights glowing throughout the bar to the neon blue lights echoing throughout the restaurant. Breakfast was awful but the rest... More

I have stayed about 6 times now in this lovely hotel. The gardens, staff and dining areas are very nice. Some rooms near reception (upstairs) are fairly small and basic, so if you want some pampering, ask for one of the wings. Food was fantastic and the staff were really good. Biggest pain is the lack of internet service. It... More

I can't recommend this hotel highly enough. It is situated on the edge of the CBD so close for shopping etc. We began and ended our safari holiday from here, but you can actually book in-house if you haven't pre-booked. Our room overlooked the beautifully landscaped gardens, was clean, very comfortable with a well-stocked bathroom (loads of fluffy white towels).... More

The hotel is in a nice setting and the staff is exceptional in making one feel at home and seeking ways to make one's stay the best way possible. The rooms are spacious and very clean. One can open windows and enjoy the cool weather without hearing noise. Would definitly stay at this hotel if in the area again.

Stayed here two nights (Aug. 1 & 2) before heading out on safari. In the middle of the night on Aug. 2 I woke up as someone on the staff was using a key card to enter the room! Later I discovered that someone stole $150 from my backpack which was in the room. It is hard to say something... More

Dear G.W, Thank you for taking the time to review Fairmont The Norfolk. Official Description (provided by the hotel)
Fairmont The Norfolk Hotel has played a leading role in Kenya's colorful history, and continues to be the best-known luxury hotel in Nairobi. The town and later the modern city of Nairobi grew up around Fairmont The Norfolk hotel, which still has its own private tropical gardens. The hotel is still the traditional starting point for safaris and the Lord Delamere Terrace is modern Nairobi's popular meeting place, where drinks and light meals are served continuously from morning till late evening.Fairmont The Norfolk was expanded in 1999 and subsequently renovated in time for its centennial celebrations in 2004. The Delamere & Acacia Wing were refurbished in 2012 to give the rooms a modern touch, whilst preserving their charm and unique personality. The Nairobi hotel now offers accommodations in 170 guest rooms and suites, has eight conference rooms, the largest seating 175 delegates, a heated outdoor swimming pool, health club with gym, sauna and steam room and gift shops. ... more   less
