This is probably my 4th time staying at the Southern Sun Mayfair, and each time the rooms seem to be dating more and more. I was put in Room 130 something, which is close to the Generator, and there were a couple of power cuts which meant there was a lot of noise in the room. The TV's are old,... More

I stayed at the Southern Sun for two nights in May 2012, purpose was business, and this was my first visit to Kenya. My time in the hotel was limited - I arrived around 10.30pm on Monday evening, and was away all Tuesday and Wednesday working, and out on Tuesday evening at a dinner. So realistically, my comments need to... More

This was certainly not my first visit to this fine hotel and will certainly not be my last. For those travelers visiting Nairobi either on vacation (pre or post safari .... and the wildlife in Kenya is beyond compare) or on business I would strongly recommend you consider staying here. It ticks all the boxes: from safety, to service, to... More

The hotel is a colonial style and offers nice athmosphere. I especially like the breakfast area which is quiet and the selections offered are more than enough. I would probably rate this higher for longer visits than for in-and-out trips as the efficiency in the reception is not the best and you do not want to spend more time than... More

It is a resort type hotel were the rooms are extended in some buildings. The service and locations are good and the ambient is nice and relax....it is a nice place to stay if you had buy business day. The food is great but a bit expensive. If you like some souvenirs, there is a small local bazaar nearby. Now... More

A nice hotel. Much better than some of the brand-name hotels in the center. Once inside, you don't know that you are in a major city. It is like a colonial estate with gardens. Rooms are pretty standard fare, but the grounds are a oasis of tranquility. Staff is nce and friendly.

I always stay at Mayfair Southern Sun Nairobi due to its location and functionality . The Team recongises me and my requests of a room type are always catered to , unless the reservation is last minute and the hotel is full - which is understandable . The Coffee Shop has excellent breakfast and dinner buffets . The Gym is... More

We arrived late, but we're greeted warmly and showed to our room. There wasn't air con, but there was a good ceiling fan. The room had hardwood floors, a desk, coffee & tea fixings, biscuits for morning, and free bottled water. The second floor room meant we could open windows at night, but no screens and no mosquito nets, so... More

The hotel hosts the Spar Grill where you can eat the best pork in town! If you dine by the pool side there is plenty of great food to choose from but I loved the freshly made salmon. It is set in very beautiful gardens so the birds chirping makes it so natural.

This is a lovely old hotel, not terribly run down by Nairobi standards. There has been fairly recent renovation and upgrades to some parts. There are tall tall trees and mature plants in the courtyards of this hotel which are wonderful. You wake up to birdsong, go to sleep to frogs peeping and risk having your roll taken off your...
