I finally get around to writing this! The oasis is a lovely hostel which is clean and bright. We were greeted and welcomed with open arms on arrival-even though it was 2.00am as I recall. We stayed in a 2 person room which had aircon, its own bathroom and all the essentials, if a little dated- but far more than... more

The hostel is in a great location and is run by very friendly, helpful staff. The included breakfast was good. However, the mattress on my bed so worn that you could feel the slats that it was resting on through the mattress, which made for a very uncomfortable first night. I did tell the staff about the mattress the next... more

This is a budget option...but it is a great budget option. Rooms were basic so if you are after luxury look elsewhere. However, the staff were simply the friendliest I have ever met - Hassan and the guys would do anything to help your stay. The rooftop terrace is a nice relaxed place to hang out. It feels a bit... more

My friends and I booked a room at the Nubian Oasis Hotel which is about 200m down the road from the Oasis. While trying to find the Nubian Oasis we walked into the Oasis thinking that it may be the Nubian. (The lonely planet book said that the Nubian Oasis was called The Oasis until recently). I pointed to the... more

This is a nice hotel. It is very much a local, family run establishment as opposed to a Western chain and is priced accordingly, e.g. cheap as chips. They really do go out of their way to make guests comfortable. The other reviews here match our experience. We did find Luxor really tiring with the constant badgering. It is much... more

My wife and I stayed in this hotel in Luxor for 3 nights in Nov 2007. It was our first time in Egypt. BOOKING I'd made a booking by emailing the hotel manager directly; I received a reply very promptly and they replied to a couple of further queries I'd had very quickly too. The prices are crazily affordable (5... more

Having had horrific experiences in a nearby (and quite similarly named) hotel, it was great to move to a place which was honest, simple, clean comfortable and used by some really nice people. Ahmed is a diamond, the staff are great and it must go down as one of my best hotel/guest house stops ever, taking in nearly 30 years... more

We have just returned from our trip to Egypt. Luxor was the highlight of the trip, due in many ways to our stay at Oasis. Hassan, the manager, met us at Luxor railway station on our arrival early in the morning and took us to the hotel, which was only around the corner, but not necessarily easy to find for... more

I stayed at this budget hotel in December 2007. The staff are very welcoming and although the manager-Hassan- will tell you about some of the tours they can arrange there is no hard sell. Although it was the winter the rooms don't get too cold at night. The front facing rooms are noisy during the day and evening but you... more

If you're a backpacker, budget traveller or just want to stay in a great place where you'll make friends and really feel "at home", Oasis is THE place for you! All the rooms are clean and tidy, linen changed daily, breakfast on the roof terrace included in the price. Hassan arranges really good tours and days out, horse riding, balloon... more
